It cost $4,200 new in 1989. That's equivalent to a little over $9,000 in today's money.
Only in the last couple years have totally mint examples started to command that sort of money again. I bought mine in extremely nice condition for $5,000 in 2012.
I suspect the Vitpilen 701 may some day be similarly collectable, but like the GB500 the price will likely go down for many years (probably decades) before it starts going up again.
Your best bet is almost certainly to sell it as soon as the motorcycle season picks up in your market, while it is still as close to new as possible.
