ok friends, you've heard me about other bikes before.

So, lately the love for my little Vit was slowly dying. It had developed into a love/hate relationship. I love the way it looks, but I was slowly starting to dislike the way it steers. Too sensitive on the front wheel/bars, too much feedback from the front. Hit a rut mid corner and the bike would start to run wide, falling into turns too quick. Just not as neutral as I want. Basically, I just liked riding my other bike (FTR1200) so much better, that riding my Vit became a chore. I started ogling other bikes, especially the Ducati Supersport 950 S... Man I love that bike.

Meanwhile, my front tire was starting to show signs of wear. Not super serious, but the sides were starting to wear off, shaping the tire in a "V". I thought to myself, I rather would have had another 1000 miles or so from this front, but sod it, gonna order a new one. Even if it's only been 2000 miles (yikes, on sport/touring tires!). In the event I would sell it, it has to have fresh tires anyway. So here we are, the fifth front tire in 8500 miles (fourth rear btw, which is still ok). Spooned it on Saturday, a new personal record: tire pulled off the UPS truck at 16:15, tire mounted, balanced and tools back where they belong at 16:45.

Went out for a canyon ride yesterday, started by gently scrubbing them in, and gradually building up lean. And frankly, I renewed my vows for the Vit! Such neutral, but razor sharp handling. 100% usable power, and seriously, I can't think what a Supersport 950 S would do better for me. It has more grunt, but also weighs quite a bit more. Like for like it's possibly on par with the Vitpilen.

Anyway, back in love and here to stay!

I guess it s like being maried to Emily Rajtakowski , sometimes you may wonder if you did right but you know you did just by looking at her :)

I’m always surprised by how some machines are super sensitive to tires and tire wear and others are not. One of my bikes is an old R69s and when I put it back on the road after a long layup I installed period correct-ish Metzler tires… and it now steers terribly. I now know why the /2 bikes were considered to be lousy handling bikes! At some point this summer I will spoon on a set of modern treads which won’t look right but will turn the old girl back into a sweet handler.

I haven’t put enough miles on my Vit yet to need a tire swap, but I remain smitten by both its appearance and performance. Light small bikes are fun, and the 701 power plant has just enough grunt.

Love to hear it Max! You are one of the most helpful fellow vit owners I found online when I first got mine Im glad youre sticking around.

Haha, I don’t want more than two bikes, and yes, if we ever move off this continent, I will sell them probably.

(There’s a chance we will within 5 years)

Not sure yet, our top two currently is either Greece, or New Mexico. A few more years though.

Still on the original S21 from when I bought the bike new (now I'm at 8k miles). Maybe I should change it...
