2011 TE 630, 730 miles
It's been in storage and not running for 7 years. The gas was not drained so it sat 7 years with 5 quarts of gas in the tank. It used to run like new, now it doesn't start.
I pulled the spark plug and it looks fine. Installed new battery, drained old gas, and added new gas. It turns over but doesn't start. When I spray starting fluid into the airbox it starts and runs for 2-3 seconds, then stops. So I'm guessing the problem is in the fuel system.
To test the fuel pump, I disconnected the fuel line at the throttle body end. When the key is turned on, the relay clicks and gas drips out of the fuel line but very slowly, about 1 drop per second. They say it should be under pressure, not drip.
Today I removed the fuel pump to inspect it but I'm not sure what to look for. I'd like to test it to make sure it's really bad before buying a new one. Do I test it by wiring it directly to the battery? (Does it run off 12v?)
I'm wondering, is it possible to clean it and try to bring it back to life? Or should I just buy a new one?
If it turns out it needs a new fuel pump, should I get Quantum for $90 or Ca Cycleworks for $144? Is Ca Cycleworks significantly better?
