It's been in storage and not running for 7 years. The gas was not drained so it sat 7 years with 5 quarts of gas in the tank. It used to run like new, now it doesn't start.

I pulled the spark plug and it looks fine. Installed new battery, drained old gas, and added new gas. It turns over but doesn't start. When I spray starting fluid into the airbox it starts and runs for 2-3 seconds, then stops. So I'm guessing the problem is in the fuel system.

To test the fuel pump, I disconnected the fuel line at the throttle body end. When the key is turned on, the relay clicks and gas drips out of the fuel line but very slowly, about 1 drop per second. They say it should be under pressure, not drip.

Today I removed the fuel pump to inspect it but I'm not sure what to look for. I'd like to test it to make sure it's really bad before buying a new one. Do I test it by wiring it directly to the battery? (Does it run off 12v?)

I'm wondering, is it possible to clean it and try to bring it back to life? Or should I just buy a new one?

If it turns out it needs a new fuel pump, should I get Quantum for $90 or Ca Cycleworks for $144? Is Ca Cycleworks significantly better?

I've heard good things about the CA Cycleworks stuff. That said... I wonder who they buy their pumps from....
I'd definitely check the filters first. Does the TE have a "top hat" filter in the quick disconnect or at the fuel injector like some KTMs have?
It should definitely do better than drip.
And then there is this...

Wow, that's awesome the way he cleaned the injector. I don't know how many filters the TE 630 has. The only one I know of is the bag filter inside the gas tank, attached to fuel pump. I'll start by cleaning that one, then try cleaning the fuel pump assembly

If this is like the KTM, there is the "sock filter" and a big "inline filter" as well.

Also, see here, there appear to be filters in the fuel cock:

The slow drip is a pretty sure indication the pump is gone somewhere, but the filter is only one part. Can you pull the filter sock off and test the pump by itself? There might be some gummed up exit hose as well.

That reverse flush of the injector might work, but it's a technique for when you've got some solid particles blocking the injector. I'm guessing that the fuel that was sitting in your system for so long has gummed up the fine injection holes with varnish. It was always tough to clean carby jets if that happened, and probably tougher to clean an injector.

It will need a long soak in some sort of solvent that won't damage the body of the injector. A replacement will be easier if that turns out to be a problem.

Thank you for the filter locations. This is my first time working on this bike so everything is new to me. I will clean those filters and see if it helps.
