Hi guys,

I am still not OK with the original high handlebars. It is comfy, stylish, but with my more sporty style of riding it is not good. I feel that the front is too light, unstabile, because I can not put enough weight on it, also it is hard to lean out of the motorcycle. Funny is, that I take out Svartpilen much much often than my Tuono V4 Factory. So I really want to keep my Svartpilen.

So the question - does anybody make this change? Is it possible to just simply switch handlebars from Vitpilen?

Thanks.

I've not done it, but I don't know any reason, why it should not be possible to simply switch to the Vitpilen handlebars.

Here a pic; it's a webfind; Svartpilen with lower LSL handlebars.

THANK you Tom. Honestly I tried to find any picture for couple of day and was NOT successful :-( You are a better seeker :-D

Looks great. I ordered original bars from Vit. Probably not the cheapest solution, but should work.

Thanks ;o)

I see, that the guy has same problem as me - the clamps for levers, when you remove original mirror, are still not available. Mine are ordered since April and still not delivered. Checked today and postponed again.

They are still available here in Germany / still with the old part number and the old price.
I'll send you a pm with some links.

Sure I will. honestly I am fighting with the handlebars almost since beginning. But Svartpilen should be - in my case - more like a everyday bike, small travelling, sometimes 2up, sometimes a bit faster, let´s say "universal bike". But on the end I ride it as a 100% sportbike, so maybe Vitpilen was better option. But was not available and price for Svart was WOW :-D And I like it a lot!

Hehe, yesterday I took Svartpilen for a ride after 3 days action on circuit with my R6. I was surprised, how slooooow the Pilen is 🤣🤣🤣

Handlebars arrived today. I was surprised, that there are no drilled hose and from a video looks like, there are no needed. Surprise for me, would be even more easier (I hope).

Keep you posted :-D

If you have installed everything it’s good to check the lower parts of the bolts of the brakelever don’t touch your tank when at maximum steering angle. If you go to far beyond the specs (= white marks on the handelbar) they make some small marks in the tank. So better check first in the garage before you do a u turn while driving. Something I learnt from experience while adjusting my handelbars and levers. 🙈

Thanks for this warning, I had that in my mind.

So ... the story, which ends up with motorcycle out of order and a bottle of Zacapa rum:

It looked like an easy job. The controllers (in czech we call it "houses") on each side of the the handlebar are mounted with inner metal clamps. System I have not seen before, but very clever. On the right side, it was question of 5 minutes. The screw for the clamp is accessible through a hole on the controllers. On the left side I was not able to reach the screw through that hole. After open the plastic controller itself, it "pops-up" and the clamp was in strange possition. I did not pay much attention to that. But during mounting on the new handlebar I was not able to mount it together again. It tooks me an hour to understand, what is wrong. The clamp was bended. It probably happend during final assembly in the factory. After 3 hours of trials to somehow bend it to proper possition, I gave up and went home to get drunk.

So the result is motorcycle out of order. I don´t think I can buy the clamp as a spare part, so I probably have to buy complete controller. I will try to call to my dealer (who sold me the handlebars), that this happend. I will look like total idiot.

Damn... but at least you have a fine rum; my favorite is Ron Centenario...

Sorry for the pictures guys, I have to make some.

And yes, there is a problem, that screw down on the brake lever is making dents to the plastics in full turn of the handlebars. This I have to solve, but the rest - WOW! WOW! The bike is sooo great now. I can not see any difference in comfort, but in playfulness, agility, feeling under pressure WOW, huge difference.

I bought Svartpilen for great price and Vitpilen was 2500€ more expensive and was not available at that time. I like the front headlight on Vit, but as overall package, the Vitpilen looks strange, I don´t like it. But from the riders position and feelings Vit wins for me. So now I have the best combo - look of Svartpilen, possition and feeling like on the Vit (y)

I totally recommend the change of the handlebars!!!

Thank you for the picture!

A_muz_ed find the real root-cause. Holder of the handlebars are 15mm higher on the Vit than on the Svart! So not only handlerbars are different!

I just checked the spare parts finder; it's indeed different height; the Svartpilen is 27mm, the Vitpilen is 42mm.

That is exactly the problem. On the end I solved it same way as it is solved on the race track bikes - I reduced the max turn of the handlebars by adding spacers to the "steering stops" on the lower clamps of the forks. Spacer in this case are "wheel balance weights". They are self adhesive and with exact size.

Max turn is still really big, so no limitation, if you need to turn on the road.
