Hi HQ Adventure Forum...long time watcher but first time asking a question. My new Svartpilen 701 just arrived and I was wondering if anyone in the forum has put any tank protection film on the their tank and if so would you have any recommendations of products or sites.

For clarification, are you looking to cover all the painted tank parts with clear? Or looking for a strip for zipper protection on the rear of the tank?

Hey Ray, more the latter (zipper protection etc). Should have provided more detail when I originally posted.

If you look really closely, you'll see what i've done. Tankbag and fuel filling protection mainly. The 3m stuff can be tricky to apply. Take your time, and pay attention to getting all the air out or you'll get bubbles.

That is a perfect install.
Did you cut these yourself or bought them precut?

The original 3m clear film had to be applied using a water /isoprop alc mix. It was a real bitch to get it right. The latest 3m film is applied using water and a few drops of baby wash liquid. Say 6 drops in a 100ml bottle. Best to still clean surfaces beforehand using isoprop alc. The new version of film is much easier to apply, and more forgiving if you stuff it up a bit.
