I'm thinking of upgrading from the Magura brake and clutch master cylinders on my Svartpilen 701 to improve reliablity and feel and was wondering if anyone has any experience or thoughts on the process. I would like to switch to radial MCs. There are the high end options from Brembo, Galespeed, HEL, etc but they are overkill for street riding. It looks like (some?) Vitpilens came with radial cylinders, but seems like the reliability isn't all that great on those either. Any other options I should be considering? I'm would likely switch to braided stainless lines at the same time.

I've no issues yet with my Brembo brake master cylinder (38.000km)
The magura clutch is rubbish. Mine will probably be replaced with a Hel master in the future.
Your Svartpilen came from the factory with braided lines, so replacing them isn't necessary.

@nampus Can you please elaborate this? Why is Magura clutch master cylinder rubbish? I have it installed on my Svart and it's working great. At least for the 9500km that I made with this bike. What to expect from it? Is it known for it to fail or something like that? Thank you!

They are known to fail.
I've had to rebuild mine, and mine keeps letting a tiny little bit of air into the system over time. So I have to bleed mine every few months.

Good to know the brembo brake master cylinder is holding up well. It seems like a decent inexpensive option, but a matching set of brembo master cylinders is pretty tempting. I'm assuming I'll have to swap lines anyway with the change from axial to radial MCs due to the difference in brake line length and fittings. Is the ABS module buried deep in the bike? Is there an easy way to access it without removing the tank?

Not 100% sure on the Svart, but on the Vit it is just behind the head stock underneath the tank. So you'll probably will need to remove the tank if you want to replace the lines.

You can get adapters from Hel to convert from axial to radial mc.

The stock vitpilen master cylinder isn’t bad if you can find one cheap. I have a brembo RCS and like it. The abs module is a pain to get the lines on and off even with the tank off. Also to bleed it I think you are supposed to have the husqvarna scan tool to activate the pump.

@Actionabe what size Brembo RCS did you go with? Based on the info I've been able to find, the smallest diameter master cylinder brembo offers is larger than the stock ones.

I have an RCS 19 but I also have dual disk brakes so it would be too big for your application. I think the stock size is 15 so you probably would Need an RCS 15.
