New member here from GA. I’ve got a 2020, bought new, now with about 17k miles. I’ve developed a knock at idle that smooths out to a vibration under throttle. I’m thinking it’s a bad roller bearing.
My question is this, if I find a bad roller, should I continue further into the engine to look for other damage or replace it, shim it, and call it a day.
Any other suggestions while I’m there? I wasn’t planning to tear the motor completely down but after replacing the clutch slave the week I bought it without an oil change, I’m now concerned I need to dig a little deeper.
Pics for attention. Plastics and exhaust can cerakoted black multicam by a friend. I’ve since removed the number plate to open up the tail section, but no other mods.

Great looking bike!
When someone says "knock" I tend to think of ignition problems.
I'd check the easy things first... have you inspected the spark plug?
Another idea is to search KTM 690 for similar noises...
Thanks for the response. I pulled the plugs. The tips are still sharp but there is some gray carbon buildup on them. I’ll order a set.
I opened the oil fill cap and tried to spin that nut by finger but it didn’t move. I can see plenty of thread on the inside of the nut and it is really close if not in contact with the clutch case cover. I don’t see any scarring though on the cover to I’m assuming it’s just a tight tolerance. I need to check the valve clearance anyway, so I think I’m going to order the shims, plugs, and a clutch cover gasket to check the torque on the crank shaft nut. Start with plugs like you said and work my way down from there.
I appreciate the input and I’ll update when I get parts in.

Sorry for leaving this hanging. It’s been a rough couple of weeks. My wife’s sister was tboned in a small car by an f350. We’ve been chasing our tails trying to keep up with everything.
Anyways, I think Max is probably correct based on some reading I’ve done. Parts ordered and fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear that, hope all turns out. My 701 had always been noisy when starting hot, I exercised the tensioner like pirate racing recommended and it got better for a little while. Now it is being noisy on cold start up so I ordered a tensioner and will replace it when I get the time.. it feels just as catchy and un smooth as the original so have to see if it makes a difference.

Got the tensioner installed this morning. It cleaned up the noise at startup and idle but I still think I feel a vibration in the bike that wasn’t there before. I’m wondering if the sprockets and guides are chewed but I’m leaning again towards the bearings on the rocker arms. Hopefully I’ll be able to pull those soon and report.
