How much would the ridability of the Svartpilen be affected by a front wheel swap?

Is there any difference in frame geometry and/or suspension between the Svart and the Vitpilen?

The svartpilen has a bit more suspension travel and trail. So the front will drop a bit on a smaller wheel.

So changing the front tire a Svartpilen will become a Vitpilen with more suspension travel? Disregarding the handlebars of course.

I'm running a 17" SM front wheel on my Svart, the change in rolling diameter is quite a bit more than an inch due to the difference in tyre sidewall height/width ratio on top of the smaller wheel. That said, the handling is still super stable, possibly turns a little quicker but it was never a slouch on the 18".

I didn't notice you had replied. Did you move the forks at all?

Nope, left it as it was. Still plenty of ground clearance but there is room to raise the front by at least 10mm.
im considering fitting some ktm 690:supermoto wheels to my Svartpilen . In ur opinion is it worth the expand is it a straight swap? Any info appreciated. Cheers. Jim.

I'm not completely sure since I didn't go through with it, but I think it's a straight swap using the Svart spacers

If you currently have cast wheels you will need new discs/abs rings and possibly spacers. If you have wire wheels already everything is the same and you only need the front wheel.

Thanks for the reply. U have saved me a lot of money. I have the cast wheels, and didn’t realise I would need to change the discs and Abs rings. Did t realise they would be different. Thought I could just move them onto the other wheels.

I know of at least one guy who has been caught out when ordering a front disc for his Vit, even the Husqvarna dealer picked the wrong one.

Swapped my Svart 18 for a KTM Duke front 17 inch. Handling much improved, quicker turn in, more grip in the corner but that probably due to the tyres, I've swapped to Continental Attack SM Evo's.
I haven't raised the forks in the yokes or made any other geometry changing adjustments.

Hopefully getting a Vitpilen front wheel so it matches the rear, the Marchesini wheel is nice but it doesn't match.

The SM Evo 2's will probably be my next tire, good to know they work well on the Svart

I've fitted an original 17-inch rim from Vitpilen 701 to my Svartpilen 701 (originally 18 inches), but unfortunately the TC light flashes every time I ease off the throttle at 3000 rpm. Does anyone have any ideas? The front wheel is obviously smaller, is that the problem, and is it possible to adjust the wheel circumference?

Strange one, can't see how swapping the wheel would impact the TC. The smaller front wheel would make the speedo read high but not impact TC or anything.

I am no expert here but, I would imagine that if a change in wheel diameter affects the TC it will do so at all times, not only at deceleration within a specific engine RPM range.
I could be wrong though.

The traction control works by counting the difference in revolutions of the front vs.rear tire. A smaller front would change that. Check the abs ring slots. If the number of slots are different between the svart/vit see if you can swap them. If they are the same. The smaller wheel is simply rotating more than expected by the ECU and you're probably stuck with it. There used to be a guy on Facebook that made custom rings for 690 Enduro to sm wheel swaps.
