Svart 701 - Wanted

G'day. I suppose it would depend how badly you want one. I'm in New Zealand !
I bought the last brand new one on the market here. Its done 1150k's only. Just had 1st service plus 2 recalls done. 1 for licence plate holder/rear guard fixing bolts. 2nd slave cyl replacment. The rear rack is custom made. Givi type top box. Db killer removed. 3m protection. 2 extra power outlets. New Puig windscreen ( not fitted ) specific to the model. Pivot bar risers. Acerbis handguards. Radiator guard. Bike is unmarked, arguably better than new. I had sold my prev 2 bikes and just wanted something to play around with during lockdown. Just waiting for my new Yam T700 to arrive. The 701 is prob the best fun bike i've ever owned. A virtual missile. Best regards and good luck with your search. Geoff M. Auckland. NZ

I hope this isn’t bad form, because I’m over 2,000 miles away from @yt701 , but I’m looking for a 2020 Svartpilen 701. I’m near Atlanta, GA but am willing to travel for the right deal.

Worst case consider this a thread bump for @yt701 ! 😁

Probably not a good idea to come down here at the moment, you may not get out ! 🤣

Make me a sensible offer, organise shipping and i'll get it to the port or shipping agent for you.

Best regards.

Geoff.

iam wondering how that pass regulations ,it looks impressive and wired at the same moment.
>Would choose sattlebags of cause , it is not so scooterish or Tourer type cliche...
i never could deal with this type of helmet storage even if its useful .
it is honestly very well made

Hi. I do some part time work that requires me to take a day bag. I prefer not to wear a back pack. and as you say, it is then used to lock the helmet, gloves etc. This is the option I prefer and works best for me.
I made the rack myself, and have a lot of experience making ' 1 off ' racks and motorbike and car trailers. It was not particularly easy as the mounting points are very limited. The rack obscures the stock tail light, which remains functional, but hence the extra light. The rack is mild steel and powdercoated. Its easily removed, and simply unplugs from a connector fitted to the wiring loom under the seat. As its all LED, there was no problem with the system throwing a fault code. There are no regulations I am aware of in NZ related to bike racks but i'd put money on it mine is better and stronger than pretty much any other you'd find.
I guess the 701 is not really considered a touring bike so there are not many luggage options offered for them, and usually just for the left side. For me, it's just a fun bike while I wait for my new T7 to arrive in the country so, it is for sale, although not advertised anywhere yet. It's now done 1400k's only, had its first service, and is arguably better than new.
I've had the front wheel waving a few times, but it's not my riding style. Best regards. Geoff.

Good luck with the search. They did'nt make that many in the first place, and it seems there is quite a following ( in NZ anyway ) to race them in a fixed class or with 401's so in theory there should be a demand for them, but also a shortage. I still have'nt advertised mine as the T7 is still not here. Best wishes, i'm sure one will turn up for you. People are importing/exporting bikes all the time here. As I said previously, if you wanted to explore getting mine over to there, i'd be more than willing to ensure it went well crated etc. I could provide any kind of reference's you required as well.
Best regards.
Geoff M.

I've been riding since the mid-70's and have owned many different bikes. Since acquiring my Vitpilen, I can honestly agree with your desire to get a Svartpilen 701. These things remind me of why I got started enjoying motorcycles in the first place. Something grand about being on a single again. Good luck with finding one!
