I cant remember seeing ride report thread here.

I know that for most here it's the dead of winter and riding season is over.

I don't ride much in winter even though I live in SoCal but plenty of people do. I really don't like to ride when it's much below 70F but yesterday it was sunny, 71F, 46% humidity, and 2mph wind.
I ride the bicycle every day, in all temps unless it's raining. I'm glad I don't have all my eggs in one basket.

The Old Place in Cornell, Santa Monica mountains, Malibu. We saw burnt hillsides from the fires and a half by half mile lot fill with trucks fixing the damage to the grid.

I got a new helmet and it's so quiet that I don't need to wear ear plugs.

I got a new jacket too. It's a tight mesh with two liners, windbreaker and thermal. It splits the difference between a winter and summer jacket.

New leather gloves too. They don't have protection features but they are pretty thick. They are way more comfortable than any synthetic glove that I've had.

70f, too hot for me!!!
Only joking, my low limit is 50f, but that’s if it is dry. Mid 80s are rare here in the uk but the Humidity is tiring. If I only rode 70 and above my riding season would be about 3 months!!
Glad you got out though, looks like a lovely day for it.

I knew you were joking. It was truly a glorious day.

There's lot's of UK expatriates here. After they're here awhile they get just like me, total wussies. I guess the blood thins to adapt to hot climate.

Cheers!

New owner and 1st street bike. Id go out at 32 degrees if I thought it was safe:LOL:. Truthfully, right now there's snow on the ground and its killing me.
Also, I checked out he jacket you posted becuase I just bought a Rev it Offtrack 2 yesterday. Now I think I should have got the one you posted so thanks for sending me down the rabbit hole again!

So sorry the weather isn't better.

Did you get a 2024? Vit or Svart? Post a pic!

I really like the Sedici jacket. The quality is really good and the price is great.

Cheers!

Picked her up about 40 minutes from where I live. 2020 with 800 miles at a really good price. I got lucky. I finally decided on getting a 701 but had no idea they are hard to find. I quickly learned that was the case so I knew I had to go pick this one up. I just installed the fuel dongle this morning. She Basically a new bike and still has that smell IMG_5684.jpg

Looks great, thanks for posting a pic. 800 miles ain't nothing.

I put a FuelX Lite on my Vitpilen. It really did make a difference.

Next on the list is the slave cylinder. I called the dealer and there is no record of them performing the recall. I have to decide if I want to take it in and have it done for free or just do the Oberon myself.

With the amount of effort and planning it takes to get it into the dealer, probably just easier to pay the money for the Oberon and do it myself.

Toast449, I'm with you, I rode on 12/31/, 1/13 and 1/27. I'd rather ride at 40 than 90. Merino wool base layer always. I just wish I could keep my fingernails warm. I have CE-2 gloves I won't ride without. I'm thinking of cutting up a cheap pair of gloves to fit over the back of my gloves and the finger tips. How do you keep your hands warm?

I recently bought some heated gloves - Five HG3s. Admittedly I don't do very long rides when it's around 0° but they come in very handy when I have run some errand on the bike across the city. The battery won't last very long on the highest setting (1h30 I'd say) but they keep me warm enough (they heat the back of the hand and the tips of your fingers, not the palm), and if you really need them on a longer ride you can buy a second set of batteries or even an adapter to plug them directly to the battery. They're CE 1. Don't hesitate if you have any questions!

Good news. The slave cylinder problem was for the 701s with hydraulic clutch. The 401s don't have a hydraulic clutch.

I was thinking hand guards and heated grips.

We had perfect ice on the lakes here in NH until recently so we brought out the ice tires and had 3 weeks to play before snow came! Snowmobile suits a choppers mittens worked quite well!
