OIL IN THE AIR BOX

Hello everyone,

After winter, my bike started acting up—it was backfiring a lot when decelerating, bogging down when I gave it gas, and running really hot. I'm not much of a mechanic, but I can manage some basics. So, I took off the air filter cover, and the bike started running a bit better, but it was still far from perfect. A few days later, I removed the air filter and found a bunch of oil in the airbox.

The same day, I brought it to Motorcycle Mall in NJ. It's been five weeks, and they still haven't fixed it. Apparently, they sent the engine diagnostics to KTM, and KTM claims the bike is running perfectly, which is absolutely not true. To this day, they haven't given me a clear answer.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

five weeks....your more patient than me. After one week i would be looking elsewhere.

First off dont want to act like i can diagnose a problem via an internet...

Otherwise, my initial thought, when I add too much oil it gets sucked into the airbox and puddles in the airbox and splashes on the filter.

The filter gets wet with oil, paper (or whatever "paper" like substance) does not like wet and doeant breath.

When the bike doesnt breath is runs like poop.

Was the filter oily?

Otherwise, the 15 minute idle ECU reset sometimes works magic on these bikes.

Well I was out of the country for 3 out of the 5 weeks but still

There was no oil on the actual filter but there was just a pool of oil in the bottom of the box. The Filter is brand new.

Motorcycle Mall is now doing a leak-down test to check the valves

Seen the same thing happen to the 701 enduro models. I have the same issue at the moment, with oil in the air box. Is there more oil than the picture attached?
