Hey everyone,

just recently bought a Svartpilen 701 Style from 2020. It has 6k km and has been serviced thoroughly, with both the tank and clutch recalls done. Every time I switch to 3rd gear, a sound appears, that is only present in 3rd gear. The sound could be described as some sort of overlapping small electric motor's sound, and is correlated with the throttle movement : it is heard when opening up the throttle and shuts down when letting go of the throttle. In other words, it can only be heard while accelerating or maintaining a steady rpm/speed. I can hear it at any RPM and at any speed through the 3 gear and it instantly shuts off as I switch to fourth or second gear.

So my question is naturally, is this normal ? Has anyone had the same experience.

I had previously test ridden a vit 701 and did not notice it at the time, but I guess I wasn't focusing on engine noises. Also the mechanic at my local dealership says "everything is fine" with the bike.

Also, is there normally a toolkit delivered with the bike ?

Thanks for your help !

Like max said these bikes aren’t quiet.. I don’t have any noises specific to a gear.. sometimes I get a weird sound that I think is tied to the chain sliders on the swing arm under acceleration only…

Hello everyone !

I just bought a Svartpilen 701 from 2021 and have exactly the samedi issue of 3rd gear noise when the throttle is opened.

Has anyone a feedback on this issue ? Is this normal.
@Freccianera (if you read me 2 years after your post) have you managed to get the noise fixed or have you lived with it just fine?

Thanks in advance !

I think I know what @Freccianera and @Albator are referring to. I wouldn't describe it as an additional noise.
What I experience is that, for some reason I don't know, the third gear has a different pitch than the other gears.
I especially notice it when riding with earplugs.
As far as I can remember, it has always sounded like that.

Thank you for your reply @LuisLAN , your comments reassure me a lot.

I will soon have the bike checked by a Husqvarna dealer. If there's nothing in the oil, I'll consider it normal and ride with peace of mind.

I'll update the forum with the result to add to the common knowledge.
