Hi all, I just picked up a ‘21 Svart 401 and wanted to know if anyone is running a front and rear camera on their bikes and what they’re using. Seeing a few on Amazon that look promising that require a display to mounted on the handlebars so wanted this forums take on them. Total newbie here.

I have a blueskysea dv988. It seems to be a good device but I haven't had chance to use it as I'm designing some better mounts to 3D print.

I thought the screen would be good as rear view but in reality you just need better mirrors. I would buy without the screen next time as you can just use your phone instead and not have to waste precious handlebar space.

I have a gopro.

For motorcycle I have had it on the handle bars, on the mirrors, and on the frame with the standard clamp. With the "roll bar" mount, like for a jeep, I typically put it on the forks.

After what happened to Schumacher, havent found the need to put it on the helmet.

I wish I could just say spend the money on the Innovv system but mounting and wiring is still the issue.

A really slimline forward and back camera mounted at the side of the helmet like a senna could work but I don't know if they exist. GoPro etc doesn't solve the rear camera request or dashcam like fit and forget need.

I would never be comfortable attaching a camera to a helmet, just packing a fleece in a backpack caused me to get minor whiplash and concussion in a snowboard fall at speed. I'm not even comfortable carrying a chain or disk lock in a backpack thinking about what it could do to your back if you came off.

When I finally finish my mount design for the cameras I will share the raw CAD files from Autodesk Fusion360. This means they could easily be adapted to any camera system in minutes if you know what you are doing

Of course if you are happy to drill holes none of that is necessary, you can just screw them anywhere.

I used to record rides but i got tired of editing the videos. So i dont record anymore. 360° camera is more fun but takes more editing time.

Depends what you want, if it's no trouble dashcam functionality it really needs wiring in and mounting properly.

If its to make videos of rides a GoPro is probably superior.

I actually have a Nikon Keymission 170 which I got cheap second hand and should try. They also do a 360 version which makes very cool surround videos where you cannot see the attachment to he rider easily so there are probably loads of options now.

I use an old Garmin Virb from my autocross days, clipped below the handlebar. It kind of blends in.

Just an update, I purchased a Vsysto IMX323 camera kit on Amazon and installed yesterday. Works pretty good so far. 32661D2D-2968-46CE-BA8C-A92CA33660EA.jpeg

The quality/resolution looks pretty good. No complaints. There does appear to be a slight delay in audio though. The only pain with this setup is having to transfer the footage from the SD card to your computer, whenever needed. Other than that, it does the job of recording footage.

I was using an old go pro hero 3 mounted to my backpack shoulder strap. I just bought an Insts360 OneX2 on their black friday sale. Going to mount it to the handbars. I do like the idea of a permanent moto mounted camera option if it is discrete enough.

Hi Pudding, If I remember correctly, I connected the wiring for the camera system to the ACC terminals under the seat.
Thanks. So this might be an idiotic question, but did you install a USB plug into the bike's ACC terminals, and power the camera system via USB? Or did just connect the camera's ACC wire to the positive terminal of the bike's ACC wiring via splice/spade?

For info:
The bike has 3 different ACC sockets.
In the front there are 2, key on and always on.
Under the seat there is 1 with key on.

They are spade connectors anyways... the advantage being, they are fused and switched to the ignition.

I powered my oil sensor in this way, here is how it looks taken apart:
