Okay. So I hated carrying around that stupid plastic side support for my bike. So I searched the web and most of them (even the Alibaba ones) are for the old side stand (pre 2019) with the round foot. Anyway, no need to go into detail here as the pics speak for themselves.
I was going to go with T6 6061 aluminum for strength but I read it's too brittle and harder to work with. So this was made with 5052 H32 0.125" (1/8") aluminum which bends nicely and I'm pretty sure it's still stronger than the actual side stand itself lol.
Didn't take too long to do. I tried tapping the holes (screws came down from the top) and that worked til it didn't haha...I couldn't tighten it enough to my satisfaction. Due to the irregularity of the side stand the pieces have to be slightly pulled together and there simply wasn't enough aluminum thread to pull it together. Bolts look fine and add some ruggedness anyway.
Wish there was some easier way to get my CAD template on the metal though. That was the most annoying as with the cutting oil the paper just came off the metal.
Also got some PIVOT PEGS to replace the stock rubber ones. Much much nicer and my feet didn't get fatigued on my 5200km trip I did to Nova Scotia. I'll post some pics of that later. I had to adjust clutch peg position slightly as it was crazy low from the factory but the pegs are great.
