Has anyone installed this kit from projektracing? I picked one up, it has many inches of excess line and the slave cylinder was way too long (at full retraction it was not disengaging the clutch). The guys at projektracing saw my pics and said 'yeah that doesn't look right' and had another sent out. It is identical to the first. I'd like to see one successfully installed on a 401 svart/vit, because the only way I can see this working is if I make a new mount at the clutch arm that spaces the slave about 1/2" farther away.

Specifically, here is the issue. Images taken from AOMC (which is where projektracing actually gets the kit from)

Installed slave cylinder showing the correct length needed to actuate the clutch:

But what you actually get in the kit is this slave - notice the extra ~5/8"" of slave body sticking out beyond the bulge where the hydraulic line enters. That results in an overall length that is waaayyyy too long - fully retracted and the with adjustment nut all the way outthe cylinder is not doing anything to the clutch other than taking out some of the slack in the spring. The shorter slave can be ordered for another $120, but after already dropping $360 on this I'm going to just make a new clutch mount today that holds the included slave farther away. This still doesn't take care of all the extra line issue. Pretty disappointing for something this expensive.

Also, the only reason to order from projektracing was that the kit was $40 cheaper from them, but now they raised the price to the same as AOMC.

Update on this. I called Magura directly and spoke to a tech. That short slave shown in the pic is from the old kit when it used a regular master cylinder. After updating to a radial one the clutch pull would have been heavy so they change the slave style. That long threaded arm with the lock nut is supposed to be used to space the body back farther from the clutch mount. My only remaining issue is that with the spacing the slave vibrates up against the engine; I'm going to make a new clutch mount with a threaded center section instead of the stock loop, that way when I use the nut to space the whole thing back it will be rigidly held in place. Updates when I'm done.

Also, the extra line length is the result of only having one kit for both vit and svart. The higher bars on the svart require a longer line. Vit people just have to deal with it or have a new line made (that is what I'm going to do eventually).

Also, if you are thinking about doing this Magura has 25% off everything right now, you can order directly from them and save $100 over projektracing or AOMC.

Is a hydraulic clutch really that much better? Not doubting you, just askin'.

How's the weather in LonGuyland? LOL

I hate everything about the cable clutch, the slop, the lever, the mount. The magura clutch pull is super light and the engagement point is exactly the same on every pull. Do I wish this kit had its shit together more, yes. But I have a full machine shop in the garage and can make anything work so this thread is more about letting people know what's up with it. Now that it is all sorted I love it.

I’ve wanted to buy this but I have the husky folding machined brake levers and having two different levers would annoy the piss out of me.

Would you consider making another copy of your clutch mount? I would like to go with this kit as well.
