Leo Vince LV-10 leak

There is a lot of black soot coming out around the connection between the muffler and link pipe. Is this normal? There is no internal seal, right? Just slip fitment?
 
Do you hear a "pfft pfft pfft" when you go buy something, like a guard rail or parked train?

I never put anything on my leo, it did take a few minutes to rotate is back and forth until if found the right spot. It did have a like a drop of soot that dripped down one time, but I wouldnt say one drop after 4000 miles is a bunch.

To compare, I have used other pipes which do make noise, and are annoying unless used with the ceramic paste made for slip ons.
 
I don't hear a leak. I am new to skip ons, should I just adjust it and see of it seats better? I imported an Arrow exhaust from Italy to the USA before they were available here and there was this never seize looking paste with it that I figured was for the slip on connection but I learned it was not when it burned off. Is there some paste I should be putting on the connection?
 
if there is a leak, I can't hear it over the exhaust. I did take it through tunnels, off throttle and couldn't hear anything either.

Do you have a picture?

And how many miles you got so far?

I have only used the ceramic slip on pipe stuff when it was necessary... like when you are at low rpm and hit the throttle and the exhaust leak sounds louder than the rest... or when the slip on can wiggle back and forth freely... or when you can feel the air blowing out...

Nope, thats not how it should look...
The amount of water that the cat makes mixed with soot can easily make that much of a mess, but it shouldnt be coming out there.

I personally would take it off and see if there is something obvious with all that soot on it before it gets cleaned, like not slid in all the way, or something like that (you can also clean it easier when its off)

Between the footrest and the delete and the screw there is for sure a good 1/4 inch play.
 
... and if you find that it just doesnt want to stop leaking, I have had good luck with a bit of ceramic paste for those pesky pipes...

From personal experiance, there is probably a 95% chance you can get away without using ceramic on a leo pipe, just take it apart and try again.
 
I'll take it apart one more time and try again. But I put it back together and it definitely seemed like it fit on slightly further. Then I started it up and started revving and you could see the link pipe move with the engine as the can stayed in place. Sooty condensation then seeped through the slip joint. On the stock exhaust, the muffler was mounted with a rubber bushing so it could move a bit with the engine.
 
If it needs a bit of movement, try bolting the muffler up tightly to the header before you tighten up the mounting bolt near the footpeg. Also, try a rubber washer in the muffler mount so the header/muffler joint is stable but the muffler itself has a bit of shake if it needs it.
 
Then get ahold of some ceramic paste like I linked above... alot of exhausts come with it for tue slip joint.
Gotta use it sparingly though or it will make a mess, and on the first ride is smells nasty and smokes as the wetness in the paste will burn off and leave only the ceramic part.

I have also treid exhaust pipe sealant, and would not recommend that for a slip on.

I got to hear one of those LV10 pipes live the other day on a 18/19 Vitpilen and was surprised at how good it sounded. (Was cruising and one appeared out of the blue in front of me)

From the pictures expected it to be super loud and obnoxious.

Not sure if they had the killer inside or not.

There is no killer on it, track-only pipe. So stay clear of Germany :p
 
According to the Leo Site, it is still track ownly but since rwcently they list this part as optional for the LV10 (except carbon which is also new):

And yeah, last time they stopped all bikes, except an old lady on a harley which was mega loud... wasnt sure if it was cause they liked harleys, or if they liked old ladies.

One officer asks for license and registration, other checks tire tread and pipe e-number; pretty straight forward.
