I wasn’t really trying to get an 801 vitpilen but the local dealership marked their 25 vit down to 7600 USD and it seemed like too good of a deal. A lot of differences between the 701 and 801 but also a lot of the same, my right foot still hits the exhaust on the 801 same as the 701. Didn’t do too much aside from swapping the mirrors out immediately with the one I had on my Svart 401.

I have some brembos and 320mm disks from a 1290 laying around in the garage so this winter those may end up painted and installed…. Fun bike so far, mad I need to pay to get the quick shifter unlocked. IMG_4724.jpegIMG_4719.jpegIMG_4715.jpeg

Yeah I plan on keeping both, I have 10K miles on the 701 so having the 801 will keep some miles off it. The 701 is so fun to ride, except for on the highway.

@Actionabe , just noticed; the 1290 disks are different to the 790/890/801 disks; the inner diameter is bigger; they may also work, but they will not rest on the inner centering ring of the wheel.
Here some pics (a webfind from a KTM-forum); a 1290 disk and a 790/890 wheel.

Tom, thanks for the info, I need to pull the wheel and look. When I did the dual disk set up using the original 701 mag wheel which I believe is the same as the 801, I used the 1290 disks initially, I think they didn’t fit the shoulder like you say but still lined up fine. I did switch to two 701 galfer disks so I can’t remember for sure. I’ll have to pull it and take a look.

Has anyone found a color match to the yellow? That is my next step is working on a few highlights.

That is a bananas price. I'm hoping Husky releases some spoked wheels for the 801, that 701 is gorgeous.
There may be a way to do it, on the 701 I am running a modified 790 adventure hub since those are 790 lowers. Then custom spokes and the original 701 rim. There may be a way to make a set up using 790 adventure front and rear hubs and 17” rims. I have no idea how the rear hub would measure up tho.

Some years ago I did the same wtih my H-D XR 1200; I used some hubs from another H-D, custom spokes, a pair of 17" Morad aluminum rims; and some Brembo and Harris-Performance disks.

But maybe we just need to be a little more patient with the 801 until the 2025 "Style Edition" is presented... / here a screenshot from the official Husqvarna spareparts-finder; still with a pic of a 401...

I bet it’s on pause until Bajaj reviews everything and they get their house back in order. It would make sense to do spokes on the svart and maybe a larger front.

Congratulations! I got my 2025 801 Svartpilen for under $7900 before taxes and add-ons (easy shift, cruise control and a radiator guard). It was a great deal. I love the bike. I just wish it had half a gallon more in range. But, I’m so happy with the weight. I’ve accepted that a visit to the gas station weekly will have to do. I am getting a fuel range of 55-80 MPG depending on the conditions. Mix city and highway is 55 MPG. If it’s mostly highway, I’ve gotten a crazy 80 MPG. So good. Cheers!

If the Style Edition will come with spokes, I don't think they will change the size (to 18" or even 19"). It would change the geometry of the bike too much; it would be less nimble; and that's one of the outstanding features of the 801.

Most likely, I really wish they would have positioned the Svart to compete with the triumph scrambler XE and gave it some off-road capabilities. It is so close to the vitpilen. Same with the 401s, if they would have brought the svart closer to the 390 enduro r it would be so cool.

Installed the 320mm rotors I had from my 701 project. Haven’t test ridden it yet but those stock 790 rotors are boat anchors with the metal center. These are much lighter. The brembos will be a little longer project because the brake line ends are the wrong angle. Duke 890 R lines would work so maybe I’ll get those or have Galfer make a custom set. I did mock them up though. IMG_4896.jpegIMG_4901.jpegIMG_4900.jpegIMG_4899.jpeg

Test ride was successful, braking is slightly better but not a huge change to me. I think the calipers will help more.

Yeah still stock, I’m sure pads would make a big difference. But since I’m going to put brembos on it it’s not worth it to swap the pads right now.
