I bought a 2019 701 Vitpilen and the tank vent hose was pinched so I pulled off the covers and rerouted the vent. Now I can't get the covers back on correctly. Specifically, I can't get the part from the cap to the rear of the tank to connect up. Any tips or tricks would be appreciated, I wanted to ride in the morning, but right now it isn't looking good. Thanks for any help, I appreciate it.

I had the same problem - it requires a lot of force to push the panels together again so you think you are going to break a tab but just keep trying. The process is the exact opposite of removing the panels. Here is a link to a video showing the process.

I watched the video, so I guess I need to just force them together? It also looks like the factory taped the vent hose down and that will simplify things. Of course, if I hadn't just filled up the tank life would be easier as well. Thanks, I guess I will just get some big fellas and whip its ass. I will update when I get her done.

I had the exact same. Replaced one of the panels, and they wouldn’t pop back into place, at all. Anyhow I tried.

Simply put, the tank had swollen. I decided to buy a new tank plus gaskets, which solved the problem (and took care of the tank recall). They’re not expensive btw, 150 bucks for the tank alone.

Thanks, I may try that, supposedly the tank has been recalled back in 2019 before the first owner bought it. I appreciate the information, it does seem as if the tank is out of shape. I wonder if I could put it under a vacuum and get it to go together? Hmmm. Things to do. Of course, if a tank is $150 I will do that, would be much cheaper.

Turns out the tank ($169.99) and all the gaskets shipped to the house are $214.00 USD. So I ordered it all and will follow up with the result. Should be here in a week or two, riding without it until then. Great forum, lots of information. Great scooters.

Got my tank in after 3 days! Covers fit right over it, no issues everything was easy to assemble. So, if you can't get them to fit, change the tank. P.S. there is no reason to take them off unless the tank vent is clogged, the tank comes off with 3 bolts, 2 electrical connectors and the fuel link disconnect.

Here is how she turned out. Looking excellent, rode her 600 miles this week (only had her a week so far) and loved every minute of it. Looking forward to some more miles. Thanks for the help, replacing the tank is a pretty easy job.
