GPR is High

Back to reality, I put one of these armadillo things on and it workd at helping not melt stuff.

I wasnt sure if it can be shortened without ruining it so I left it full length for now, and may adjust it a bit, but here it is on the test run:

Still not a fan of a heat shield in general, but I am even less of a fan of lile frivolously melting my gear.

So I put some miles on it and now I was wondering a few things:
1. I heard that when using a high level type exhaust on the 401/390 engine it can cause hot spots which can result in premature failure or wear or engine damage.
- I am wondering if this effect is when running decat & removed resonator pre-muffler too (I see alot of people with cat/premuffler delete and slipon), or only to high level types without a cat.
-perhaps the GPR version with a euro 4 cat and a stock air filter would not have such issues?

The reason I ask, is because I have typically used the High Level with the euro 4 cat it came with and stock paper filter... when using a different cat, or no cat, or a filter lid, it doesnt feel "right". And this effect I noticed especially with the BMC filter, if feels very powerful, but very rough...and very loud.

Anyone with experiance with incomplete filling and hot spots??

Why would the exhaust routing effect anything? Very similar engines are used on dirt bikes with high exit exhausts without problems...

As I heard, it was characteristic to the 373 motor specifically due to its design. (That was my first question)

Which is why you need that fat ugly black box, in order to regulate the flow through the combustion chamber consistantly at all rpm, and prevent a lean condition at certain rpm on certain spots, which cannot be detected by the o2 sensor.

Anyways, good thing I hadn't taken the sticker off yet.

I noticed discoloration of the sticker so figured it was low on packing.

Correct. Took it apart and only like 20 grams fiberglass were left; about 10g stuck in each end cap.

So I broke out some ZAP 4 stroke packing, 400g / bag; which works out almost perfect - silent sport calculator's 370g recommendation is what I put in and it fit just right.

Lessons learned:
-Pneumatic Rivet Gun moved up in my wish list.
-Packing lasted about as long as 1x back tire, or 2x oil changes; Id guess a hundred hours.

So, while waiting on a replacement gp style grill (ticket waiting to happen when it looks like something is missing) I have been rolling with the Deeptone, High.
I notice a few slight differences vs. The M3
-the powerband is slightly different, a bit longer and flatter I would say.
-slightly louder according to my measurement instruments (could be because its so new)
-further from my head making it seem considerably quieter for me
-dont think its repackable, maybe it doesn't need to be (shrug)
-I like the sound, I like the feel, I like the style and I like the looks
