Gas Tank Rant

So I’m removing the side panels to get the wiring right for the Coober kit and other accessories and couldn’t help but notice how freaking small our gas tanks are. I started thinking, why is there not a vendor that makes a custom gas tank kit with custom side panels to go with it? Would it be a lot of trouble to replace a tank? As long as it doesn’t deviate too much from the lines of the bike, I would think a kit such as this would be popular among 401 owners seeing as one of the biggest gripes that people have, including myself, is the small size of our tank. Anyway, rant done.

Here's another 'bright side'. The rack on the Svart tank means it's easy to mount a Rotopax container for those longer rides.

Google says 2.51g which is rather small, what MPG are most getting?

My R9T has 4.5g but only gets 39 MPG

I'm typically getting as low as 57mpg and up to 70mpg. Most often in the mid 60's. I usually refill between 100-120 miles traveled between fill ups. Over 5000 miles, I think I've only put in over 2.0 gallons just once, despite being 0 on the distance remaining and blinking fuel bar. Refilling is a good excuse to get off to stretch and refresh anyway. :)

That's pretty good, I'm not normally doing that much in one stint but if it had another gallon I could go 3 days between fill ups instead of 2. I get about 140 miles before the reserve light comes on but as long as I got 120-125 miles it would be the same fill up schedule as my R9T.

Wish we would hear what the 2022 changes would be.
