I know yall been installing thicker oil to compensate for things...

... with that knowledge, I asked a local specialist suspension dude what he like to use and he said the original stuff, SAE 4.

So of course the Manual also Says to use SAE 4 and then I figured would look up the original stuff, checked the parts list and found where it lists SAE 5 fork oil...

🤦‍♂️

Finally after some looking into data sheets, I came up with some very valuable conclusions...

Some SAE 5 stiff is lighter than SAE 4 Motorex, and SAE 4 Putoline is heavier than some SAE 5 stuff.

🤦‍♂️

Ok, and which oil weight is WP SAE 4 ?

(And why does the parts list list the no longer available SAE 5 ?)

Just want to keep the function as is, while follow the rules; 1x Fork oil after initial break in & every 10k km.

A different weight would be less productive when targeting the exact same performance.

😎

I didn’t even know you’re supposed to change the fork oil after the initial break in.

But yeah, the stock damping was too weak anyway, so glad I went to heavier wejght oil.

I have heard that Motorex foams, the Putoline is 50/50 great review / terrible review and the WP/KTm only comes in a 5 Litre or larger container.

There's also amsoil... about the same weight as a Motorex 4, and its the cheapest around here at the moment by about 8 bucks.

Wonder if the Motul or Ravenol light weight fork oil products are any good... probably only one way to find out.

I have Motul 2.5 SAE fork oil as recommended by my suspension specialist after fettling my Svartpilen 701 fork cartridges. I have used Motul previously on other motorcycles with no complaints.

According to Motul their weights are:
2.5 W - 15 CSt @ 40°
5 W - 18.9 CSt @ 40°

The 2.5 is much closer to the 16 CSt of Motorex 4 W
