I'm very happy with my new Vitpilen 801. Still breaking in, so once the first service is done, I can finally experience it's full potential. I really like driving the vit, it handles very well and gives lot's of confidence while cornering.

The standard seat is not too bad, but I get some pressure points after an hour or so. It would be nice if I could improve the sitting comfort.

Has anyone experience with the ergo seat for both the rider and pillion? Do they have a different shape compared tot the original seats or is it only the padding which is different? Does it offer more comfort or a slightly different sitting feeling?

Thanks for your help!

For some hours the stock Svartpilen 801 seat was absolutely fine to me; but at the end of a 300 - 350km daytrip of enganged riding on small back roads, my butt was always a bit "stressed" and I upgraded to the ergo seat (standard hight); and (to me) it's indeed better.

The shape of the seat is the same, just a different padding? I wouldn't mid switching just for the breathability, but I really love the stock shape.

I bought the ergo seat as well, was a lot worse than the normal seat for me. Your mileage may vary :)

I knew this would be an impossible question to answer. :)

Could you describe why it was a lot worse?

My gripes with the standard seat are that when I sit close to the tank, I get to much pressure on my soft parts. If I slide to the back of the seat, the side edges of the saddle are digging in the top of my hamstrings. So I hope the ergo seat can at least improve one position.🤞

Hmm, I'm quite petite and roughly 1,83 m and my hindside starts hurting after a bit over an hour and a half so I figured the comfort seat would be great for longer rides. The problem I have is that its situated further from the tank than the original seat so I cant sit properly on the bike and the cushioning is a bit softer but also with rougher edges on the side that cuts circulation to my legs after a while.

Thanks for sharing!

Unfortunately, that sounds quite familiar. These are the same pressure points I currently feel at the standard saddle. I'm also rather skinny (70 kg for 175cm) and for a comfortable riding position I like sitting on the front of the saddle. The back of the saddle is actually quite nice, bit indeed the edges start digging in my muscles at the back of my upper legs which start to ache after a while.

I was hoping the ergo seat would improve on these points, but based on your input, chances are small.

What you experience is very similar to what I experience as well.

I might give the ergo seat a try next time I go for a bit longer trip and let you know how it felt but last time it was not a pleasant experience :P

Thanks for the comparison pictures! Really nice and helpful to see the saddles side by side.

The more angular shape of the ergo seat looks promissing. The proof is in the eating, so I’ll give it a try.

Did you end up going for the ergo seat in the end? If so how did you get on?

I’m considering getting an 801

I've ordered the ergo seat for both the rider and pinion and I'm waiting for the delivery. I'll report back when I've been able to test them.

The ergo seat looks identical to the Vitpilen seat except for the holes in the cover. I find the Vitpilen seat super comfortable, I put a couple hundred miles on it in one day before.
