Engine start issue

So for the past 2 weeks I noticed my bike doesn't start sometimes. I turn the key and the electronics work perfectly but as soon as I push the engine start button nothing happens.

This happens mostly when the handlebar is pointing straight and as soon as I point it slightly to the left I push the engine start button and it starts perfectly.

I haven't had the time to check this problem yet, but to me this sounds like the engine start button cable is touching some metalic part in the frame when the handlebar is pointing straight. But I don't know much about electrical stuff... Does this sound right to you?

I would check your cable connections at the battery first, especially the ground. If there is a loose ground connection, the bike can exhibit the kind of symptoms you are describing. It is very tight under the seat, and it's easy to have a cable rub on the underside of the seat, perhaps causing it to loosen. Check the battery connections and let us know....

Everything seems fine under the seat. It's very weird the bike doesn't start when the handlebar is pointing to the right or straight but it does when pointing to the left...

It is possible that the starter button wire is internally frayed/broken.
When straight or right the wire strands separate and when turned left they connect.

Check for any wire/wires that seem to be pulling tight when the steering is straight or turned.

That's the next thing I'm going to check. Hopefully this week I will have time for it...

Could also be the clutch sensor / clutch sensor adjustment, have you checked there?

I normally start in nuetral, but in gear about half the time I need to tickle the lever to find the sensors sweet spot or it wont start. (I probably should adjust it better...)
