Dash buttons hard to press

Setting things on the dash is a real pain because the rubber layer over the buttons makes it very hard to press and hold. I've thought of pulling the thing apart and building up the buttons with some heat glue or something so they poke up under the rubber. However, I don't even know if the dash comes apart easily enough to make this worthwhile trying.

Anybody got a workaround for this?

I had a tough time using them at first too. What worked for me was to feel them around with a glove-free thumb to will discover that there’s actually a small area where the button is placed underneath the plastics/rubber layer. In my 2021 Svartpilen that is just a bit higher and to the left of the center of each button. Once you figure out where that is, then it’s much easier to push and use them while on the bike than before.

Another bike I owned some years ago had a button on the speedo to click between odo, clock, etc on a small LCD panel. The button was tricky to use while riding so I got inside the speedo and soldered some wires to the switch contacts on the back of the circuit board. Then I unsoldered the wires in the headlight flasher switch operated by my left index finger (which I never used) and soldered the speedo button wires there. I could then click through the readout very easily.

Doing something similar to the Svart is still rolling around in my mind.
