Covering svartpilen 701 ugly back of dash take 3. Now 4

Lots of great work on this thread!
This is universal screen on eBay is claiming to be for a Svartpilen 701. Anyone tried one? I might...

It says universal mounting kit . Most of those mount to triple clamp bolts( ours are facing the other way) or headlights bolts (which are covered).. that's why the only specific screens for the svartpilen 701 have large crazy brackets. Most other scramblers don't have a headlight shroud.

If you want universal try one with handlebar clamps. Or if you get that to work somehow post pics

I looked at the Vit --> Svart change and actually bought a bunch of parts to make the change, BUT the headlight mounts on the triple-clamp are not the same, and at the very least you would have to change all the triple clamp parts as well. And I think it would just keep walking compatibility back one step at a time until you replaced the entire front end. Note how the key switch is mounted on the Vit and the clip-ons - these would drive one to have a very expensive parts swap, I think. I tried to just swap out the headlight, and you can't even get that far without having to get to the triple-clamp swap, so I stopped.
I've only looked at the parts diagrams, so a bit hard to tell what fits where. Good to hear someone tried it, even though it didn't work. Now I can put that idea to rest 😄
Cheers!

Take 4. Always wanted factory 401 screen(701 was never offered because dash positions are different). But they were always never in stock / to expensive. They finally hit ebay/ali/ Amazon. In 3 colors clear, black, brown. I got the brown. 70 $. Had to modify the crap out of it. And may move it down a bit if I can figure out how.

Here's my attempt... I bought the Puig and was going to cut down the screen. However, I saw this in fleabay and having 'watched it' was offered it for £18. To my surprise, two of the holes already lined up with the Puig brackets, so I drilled two more and mounted it. The only problem was there were two spare holes, the plastic quality wasn't great and the black wasn't as dark or glossy as the Husky plastics. So I had a go at vinyl wrapping it. It's come out ok. The only problem is the back of the screen is messy with the folds of the wrap. I might have another go at trimming it properly. Anyway, now I can have this screen, which I prefer for looks and can swap it for the Puig for long journeys or touring.

The flat dash left a big gap. So instead of moving screen down. Just added a filler piece

Where's your dash, man? Really intrigued - this is a big alteration. I'm in the middle of one myself. I have the BW dash and am tweaking the plastics to make it look cleaner. Another couple of days, I might have something to show.

The new headlight is 1 in. Thick instead of over 3.5 of stock. The stock dash is behind it. My badwinners dash broke if you remember. Pics of " replacement" Coming soon.

So you're riding without an accessible dash? Not sure I'd want to lose the info, but it looks very nice, very clean.

How's the light pattern on that headlight? Difficult retrofit?

I'm not riding with no instruments. Got some of the important stuff from OBD2 dongle. Plus nav, music and phone. Lsk headlight adaptor clears canbus error. Then making some brackets for a 7" headlight ring.

Wow. Had no idea that was even capable. Is there an app on the phone that receiving this info from the dongle? Crazy.

Adding to this older thread in case anyone comes upon it, I added a dart fairing and it's a generic mount system on the handlebars, works fine, and I think looks cleaner than most options out there.

That is actually pretty nice. Which model is that? What did you use for the brackets?

I had a go at 3d printing my own cover. I had previously bought the Wunderkind front cover, which just sticks on with 3m pads, so I just did the same for my rear cover. Is it a thing of beauty.......no. But it is unique and I think it kind of goes?20240503_101637.jpg20240503_101659.jpg
