My bike got it's first service at the dealer and they also tensioned the chain.

I'm struggling to understand how the tension is measured. It should be 2-5 mm from the top of the chain to the flat part (and not the ridge) below the bridge, right?

Is the chain tension way too high on my bike?

When my bike had it´s first service they over tightened the chain, I was on the motorway on the way home when I noticed the excess noise. (Not going to use them again, and it was a three hour round trip ) As @Tom shows in the video is the correct way I do it. I clean and lube the chain first though.

Thanks for the advice and the link.

I think it's too tight. The gap between the top of the chain and the lip is about 5mm, from the flat part of the bridge its about 10 mm.

As a reference, they've adjusted the rear tire about 4mm backwards on this first adjustment after 1000 km.

Better too loose, than too tight, i've read. So I'll loosen it a bit.

I've asked in the shop how to do it properly. They've put it on the back stand, pressed chain up hard with a T key and only then measured distance to the flat part. Then rotated wheel and repeated process.
