I haven't had a bike for 10 years and now I want a Svartpilen. It just looks fun ( and my truck gets 15 mpg ). The nearest new Svartpilen is 5 hours from me and I'd just take an enclosed trailer with me.

I've never bought a bike from a dealership, so I'd appreciate your help - and I'm sorry if these questions are dumb.

Can I put a motorcycle on my American Express? As opposed to financing it? I have interest free credit cards with plenty of time to pay it off.

If I buy a warranty, will I have to return to that same dealer for any repairs or adjustments ( after break in ) to maintain the warranty? It's about 5 hours away...

I'd love to keep my price as low as possible. Tips? What don't I need?

Any insights or advice are really appreciated - please link me to good info. Thanks guys.

Yes, you can buy a bike on a credit card. I can't see why the US would be different from here in Australia on this. I bought my Svart on card as well as my Triumph before that. Just check your spending limit.

The initial service needs to be done by a dealer as they connect their computer to update the bike so you can change the shift light points etc. US has legislation to prevent dealers from demanding you to stick with them for servicing and warranty work. Check out Magnusen-Moss Act. A warranty claim should be able to be done by any dealer, and regular servicing by anyone, including you if you keep receipts for oil and filters etc.

You'll need US riders to chime in for tips on talking down the price. Things like this can be country specific, dealers here in Australia usually stick to designated price. However, there is nothing you can take off the bike to reduce the price, and there are no manufacturer add-ons that the dealer will try to sell you to up the price.

Several members here have aftermarket add-ons, like rear racks, engine guards, windshield. You'll find them easily just by scrolling as there is not a great deal of casual stuff on the forum.

Super helpful - Thank you!

Lol - I reached out to several dealers on America's East coast ( that had them "in stock" on their websites ) and sure enough, no one really has one for me.

I'm kinda torn, because the "test vehicle" photos of the 2023 look dramatically different than the '20-'22 Svartpilens, and I really like the current style. But, I suppose the "test" bike for the 2022 version also looked weird, so maybe the '23 will still fit the design I like.

That happened to me. I saw the all black model 2019/20 and loved it. When my 21 model arrived it had less black and more mid grey smoke/silvery paint. It wasn't a big deal as the bike still looked great and once it showed me how much of a hooligan it could be I was hooked. :)
