Bar end mirror question

Hi guys! I recently ordered some very cheap bar end mirrors just to see how they would look like on my vit and I'm completly in love! They make the bike look a lot better in my opinion. Here's a before and after:

The problem with these is that the visibility is horrible. I didn't expect anything better, I just wanted to see how they look before buying some nice ones. But this made me think about the bar end weights...

All of the mirrors I saw on the market force you to get rid of the bar end weights that come stock. I managed to modify the inserts that came with these to keep the weights, but I wouldn't trust this as a definitive solution. (Don't judge my sloppy job, I was on a hurry haha)

Has any of you installed bar end mirrors similar to these? If so, how's the visibility? Also, how are the vibrations without the weights?

I'm thinking about buying something like this: https://www.highsider-germany.de/en/product/301-026-handlebar-end-mirror-victory-evo-543177/

If you have any mirror recomendation I would be pleased to hear about them.

I used a CRG Arrow mirror on my 701 and just mounted it on the end of the handlebar, leaving the OEM bar end weights in place.

The bar ends look great. But for me, these are some negatives:
- make the bike wider so is a problem for lane splitting (especially if you rotate them outward to see past your forearms.)
- have to look down and to the side to see the mirrors. Depending on your helmet view port the mirror might be hidden and require you move your head to see the mirrors.
- bar end weights can be a problem.

Now, I have bar ends on two of my bikes that are back road sports bikes. But my Svartpilen is a city bike for me, and I want the mirrors to be very easy to see, so I'm using regular ones. You can see them here: https://hqvadventure.com/forum/threads/new-mirrors.39/

I bought some weighted bar end mirror mounts from RhinoMoto.com and went with CRG Lanesplitter Folding mirrors for my Svart. The KTM RC390 mounts worked perfectly on my 2020 401. They also have specific mounts for the 18/19 Svarts in their drop down menu. This is a rather pricey combination, but they are high quality with no vibration. Being able to fold them in when needed is also a nice perk.

A few days ago I made the decision to buy a new set of mirrors. I changed my mind a bit and went for these: https://www.highsider-germany.de/es/producto/301-455-espejo-de-extremo-de-barra-stealth-x6-543414/

I think they look great! The build quality and the finish is really good.

Although they look great where they are, I think I will flip them and put them over the bars. I don't like moving my head so much to look at the mirrors. It makes you take your eyes off the road, which I don't really like...

I decided to put them over the bars. This way I don't need to take my eyes off the road so much. In my opinion they look better the other way, but sometimes you have to find a balance between looking cool and being safe :ROFLMAO:😅

Here's a closeup shot of the counterweights. These are the Enterprise EP-1 bar end weights. The quality is pretty sweet 😁

I'd be curious to see those pointed out.
I can try that if I have time today or tomorrow. But I don't plan to use them that way, since they make the bike wider and it would be harder fit in between cars.

Agree! Got this recently and even though they look cool, you cant see shit in the “down” position. Will flip them “up” tomorrow.

I just picked up a 2020 Svart 401 and 30 seconds into the ride I wanted to replace the mirrors. It's totally unnerving for me as a new rider, not knowing what's behind me.

I'm looking into the same mirror set up as what you have, but I'm curious about the use of the KTM RC390 mounts on your 2020 versus the use of the dedicated RhinoMoto mounts for the Svartpilen. When I look at the parts list for the 2018 Svart 401 I see that the stock bar end screws into a long, weighty expander wedge. But when I check the list for the 2020 Svart it doesn't screw into an expander bolt. So what does the bar end actually screw into inside the handlebar?
And related to that, when you switched to the new mirrors and mounts, did you get more vibration in the handlebars, i.e. was there less mass to dampen vibration with the removal of the stock bar ends?
Thanks!

Like those mirrors, looking at the same setup for exact bike. Just to make sure before I order. You went the rc390 route with the latest model year they offer? I did see they offered Husqvarna bar ends too but haven't gotten confirmation from them via email that they'd work. Going to proceed with your setup since you've had no problems. Thanks for your post and the pics.

Here is a picture of what it looks like when you unscrew your OEM bar end weight from your 2020. That's why you can't use the 2018 Svart part with the expander bolt. So with the RC390 mount, it attaches just like the factory bar end mount with the supplied screws.

And since those mirror mounts are weighted like the factory bar end mounts, there was no increase in vibration.

When I ordered, they did not have any for the 2020 Svart, just the 18/19's.

So I looked for ones for the Duke and RC390, and the ones listed for the RC390 appeared like they would work with the 2020 401. I exchanged a few emails with one of their reps, and ordered a set.

Here is the link to what I ordered: https://www.rhinomoto.com/https:/www.rhinomoto.com/rc390-mirror-mounts/

Just pick the end design that you want (round/taper/flat) and if you want all black or partial stainless.

Thanks for the pix and info, they're a big help.

I picked up these mirrors but never used them : https://www.amazon.com/Heran-Rear-View-Bar-End/dp/B07SQP773R/ref=cm_wl_huc_item
You could go this way and use CRG bar end mirrors, but it wouldn’t be too cheap… https://www.rhinomoto.com/https:/www.rhinomoto.com/vitpilen-svartpilen-mirror-mounts/

I brought inexpensive mirrors on ebay so far they have been OK, but if vibrate off I’ll go with the plan above.

The ebay mirrors were ; MICTUNING bar-end mirrors with out weights so far no problem, (with vibration). Lately I've been using cheap mirrors, which are fine only draw back is they may need adjusting more...
