Anyone did their own valves at 6000 miles?

..W50 viscosity @100°c must be between 16.3 and 21.9, and differs depending on the brand / blend.

Typically the datasheet is available on the manufacturer webpage.

For example shell has 19.9 and mobil has 16.9, and the Amsoil VTwin 15w60 which is probably whats in @Max Kool 's Indian bottle has a 23.1 putting it on the thin side of a W60.
 
They dont list 100°c, it is marginally thicker at 40°c.

Anyways, the point I wanted to make is that on a given 701, the rattling might typically happen with oils that have less than 18.5 @ 100° to start with, so half of the W50 will rattle and the other half not, and a W60 for sure not.

Its also not bad when you can use the same oil for more than one machine... and you probably dont see any sub 50° weather on the regular😎
 
Assuming you have the right tools and know how to find compression TDC, it's straight forward. You just need to bend the feeler gauges to measure the exhaust valves.

I got lucky though with all four valves in spec.

My 401 was also that way.

Prerequisite is a feel of how a feeler gauge should "feel" 🙈

The mechanic at the dealer said that since some update a few years back the majority of the single cylinder bikes dont need adjustment at the first check. (And by my estimates they go through alot of bikes)
 
I'm about to do this in the next couple of weeks. Planning on doing it myself.
For this service, I would need to do the valve check and the oil change since I've already done most of the other items on the list within the last 500 miles.
Any advice or things or things I should be on the lookout for?
