The Svarty is ready for the tour in May. Had this bike since November and since I’ve owned it my 1290 SuperAdventure hasn’t moved from the garage. Obviously the SAS would make more sense for our trip to the Pyrenees but I reckon this little gem of a bike would be great on tour.

Brought the Husky rear bag brackets (only) £70 then the 20 & 10 litre Rhinowalk tail bags £50 SW Motech tank ring bracket £40 with tank bag already owned and finally a Peak design iPhone bracket and case for Sat Nav £120 and she’s ready to go.

Any one else been touring on the Svartpilen?

That's a good setup amigo! I did a tour last year of France and Spain and posted some pics on here:
The 801 was great for touring and long days in the saddle. The seat was better than I expected, the riding position upright and comfortable. You will have a great time, I'm sure.
Post some pics of your adventure.

Hi,

Great pictures of your trip last year in France and Spain.

Looking forward to taking mine this year.

Were the tires good for the trip?

Yes the tires were good! Really grippy and versatile even for gravel roads. They wear quite quickly but that's expected.

Where have you been able to source just the rear bag brackets? I’m planning to go on a tour through the alps September this year and will likely copy your rear luggage setup ;)

Hi,

I purchased the rear brackets only from AMS in Tewkesbury, did it over the phone and they were posted to me direct, the brackets were approx £70 plus postage. they look quite tidy when fixed to the bike.

You can order them also from Zieger / Ibex.

However, there are also some alternative solutions to attach some bags to the 801; here a link to another thread.

Do you have a part number? I can't find them, but might be quite handy to have a set. Thanks!

PS. I could only find this:
Which includes the (overpriced Husky bag) which I don't want.

Hi, apologies for the delayed response as I am away at the moment so I cant check if i have a part number. As mentioned, I just called the parts department at AMS in Tewkesbury and they were very helpfull in finding the bracket only. I initially thought i would have to buy the the whole thing but they said the bracket can be ordered seperately.

Alternatives are available as mentioned by others but cant comment if they are any good but no problems with the Husqvarna ones so far.

I'm not sure if the thin mounts are really stable enough for some heavier luggage / multiple bags; to me they look quite under dimensioned; especially with the open ends.
According to the manual the max load of the Husqvarna mounts with the small bag is 3kg; with a max speed of 130kmh.

Ooh! That's what I was looking for! I don't have a Facebook account so can't view it. Is there a link to buy? Thanks, Tom!

No link; just this post
"It’s actually the bracket that came with a Vitpilen 701 seat bag. I just swapped it over to the 801."
