701 choice... Svartpilen or Vitpilen

Which should I choose? If you have one, anyone wish you had the other?

There's honestly not a big enough difference between them that would make you wish for one over the other imo, it will most likely come down to your personal aesthetic. The Vit is more Cafe-esque and will handle high speeds and longer distances better than the Svart and the Svart is a bit more Moto styled and allows a lot more functionality considering its offload capabilities. I ended up with the Vit since I already have a few dirt bikes

Thanks Ian! Have you been comfortable on the Vitpilen with the low bars? Is the step in the seat a bother if you want to slide back?

I've got a Vitpilen, I only ride on the streets and prefer the looks of the Vit over the Svart.
No regrets so far. I like the forward riding position, the first ride felt extreme coming from a Superduke 990, but I got used to it within a few minutes. After the test ride getting back on the Superduke felt weird and chopper like
I can do 500km days without problems, and the weight over the front wheels really inspires confidence in the twisties.

No issues with the low bars, with most of your weight shifted forward you can really tuck in and charge out of the corners like Nampus said also I haven't noticed any issues with the seat style/position. This is the first street bike I've owned though so I don't have a huge frame of reference

This could be a solution. Hardly changes the looks of the bike and changes the Vit's comfort remarkably, especially at city speeds.





I have arthritis slowly creeping in my hands and wrists, and this makes the difference for me.

Yes, raise the bars if you'd like - or need - to.
And otherwise, we hafta say, the Vitpilen (I have one! Has a new gastank, too!) is the most interestingly designed motorcycle in production just now. What an object! Like Vanessa, (maybe a little) I, too am old, but maybe I have long arms or something...the riding position is not that radical, and on the back roads of New England this bike is great fun. Plenty to talk about when I park it, too.

Doesn't the Svartpilen have a 19" front wheel? Harder to turn in. Vitpilen is a competent sport bike, Svartpilen is a more comfortable ride and can handle some rougher terrain, it depends what you want from the bike.

I have the Motobike bar risers on my Vit, makes a big difference but I’m still pondering the ABM kit. If I hadn’t bought the bike already I’d seriously consider a Svart instead, knowing you can take off the number plate thing. Having said that I personally don’t like the headlight cowl and front end styling of the Svart...

Hi, new here. Just ordered a new Svart after testing both. Fell in love with the Vit looks, but after testing them it was clear to me that the Svart is more suiting me. It's the way I sit on the Vit that I don't like. Hopped on the Svart.. love at first sight.

I just bought a Svartpilen 701 yesterday, due to the more comfortable ergonomics and bargain price the dealer offered me.
I actually went there to buy a 701SM or 701LR, but the Svart deal was just too good to pass up.
