42t Sprocket Weights for Vitpilen 701, Svartpilen 701, and Duke 690

Here are weights of stock, superlight 42 tooth , and JT 45 tooth. The JT 45 is actually lighter than the superlight 42.

I did it for friction gain.
Not sure I have it (my dyno guy says not noticeable) but I have at least a nice gold chain like a rapper! 😂

Has anyone experience what is the minimum link number for 15/42 ratio? OEM chain has 114 links.

I rode my 701 with JT aluminum, the type which was my favorite on my 401.

After 1000 miles I took it off, just didnt fit with the way I ride the 701 bike. I think I still have a new 40,41,42 originally packed in their box cause I am so Happy with my Steel PBR (Original) 🙉

I am sure that my experiance will not match everyone elses.

On the 401 the JT Alu kicked butt, and I liked it.
- so i got some for the 701, then
On the 701, i didnt like how it looked or felt
- so I took it off and put a Stock one on.
(I also have a steel from Esjot which I didnt like for the 701 either 🤷‍♀️)

And yes, it was the regular 40t JT Race Light Alu Sprocket; no fancy mud grooves or slots or anything else.

So I pulled the trigger on a 3D520SP chain. At the same time I went with the known JT 15 teeth front sprocket and a JT 42 teeth aluminum rear sprocket.
  • JT steel 15t, JTF190215RB, 11.61 € ~ 12.80 $: 198 g ~ 0.4365 lbs
  • JT aluminum 42t, JTA89742BLK, 22.79 € ~ 25.13 $: 239 g ~ 0,5269 lbs
  • 3D520SP chain, 189 € ~ 209.18 $: 120 links = 1809 g --> 100 links = 1507 g
Weight loss rear sprocket: 520 g (JT steel 42 teeth) - 239 g (JT aluminum 42 teeth) = 281 g
Weight loss chain (114 links): 1888 g (OEM) - 1718 g (3D520SP) = 170 g

Wasn't it possible to remove one more link or do you wanted a longer wheelbase?
Did you weight the DID ZVMX chain?

Probably could have removed another link, works fine with 114 like it is though.

These are the weights of chains I had on this bike, weighed new, on the same scale, with the rivet link and paper/plastic:

• 1929g CZ 114L (Stock)
• 1815g RK XSO2 114L
• 1779g DID VR46 114L
• 1922g DID ZVMX 114L

Why ZVMX - I dont know how to explain it in a "non-audiophonic" way; I just didnt like the lighter chain on this bike for some reason.
