Hey everyone, new channel and first official ride report here, but definitely not my first rodeo out on the BC backroads.

My buddy Taylor and I finally found a weekend for a massive day trip through the Interior Plateau. The goal was simple: crush a 300 km loop on our dual sport bikes, heading from the Logan Lake towards Ashcroft and back, avoiding pavement whenever possible.

The Bikes: My 2024 Husqvarna FE350s and Taylor's 2023 KTM 690.

The Route: We stuck mostly to high elevation FSRs and old logging trails, cutting between a series of lakes before dropping down into the iconic Thompson River Canyon. Total distance was about ~300 km, but it felt like 500km of technical riding.

The first several hours were pure bliss: perfect gravel, flowy roads, high-alpine views, stunning back country lakes, warm summer air, and no schedule.

We had perfect weather and beautiful roads, but things took a sharp turn when we started descending from the plateau into the Ashcroft canyon country. We thought we had found a secret backroad, but that route quickly led us to a problem...

We were running low on fuel, about 40 km from the nearest town , when the track we were following brought us through a private property farm. My satellite imagery was suspect, and doubling back would definitely leave us stranded. We decided to press on, but just as we thought we were in the clear, we hit the final obstacle: a massive gate, locked solid.

We had to get creative. We couldn't climb back up, as we didn't have the fuel to find an alternate route. What followed was a full-effort, adrenaline-fueled scramble to get both bikes—especially Taylor's much heavier one, over the fence line so we could make it to town.

Once we were free, the final stretch was incredible—twisting and flowing along the river through that amazing BC desert. We finally made it to town, dusty and smiling, for gas and a much-needed plate of Italian pasta.

This was an epic day with some incredible scenery, and we captured the entire thing with high-production video and drone shots.

The full cinematic report on the whole escape—plus all the remote scenery and the final descent—is up on my channel, Dirtbike Journal.

Check out the video to see how we got those bikes over the fence and made it to town!

Thanks for reading! Happy to answer any questions about the Husqvarna build or that part of the route.
