Hi team Husky,

I’ve had my little 2022 401 for a month now and even though I’ve really enjoyed my Leo Vince slip on, I wanted to try a Werks Chamber delete. After the install it was a little too loud, but I could really notice a loss of power too! I’m super sad on both accounts. It looks like I’ll have to chuck the old black box back in so I can regain that power band. Has anyone else had a similar issue?

My oppinion:
With stock muffler the chamber delete works and no power is lost.
With Leo Slip-On it doesnt. (For it sounded like a broken quad)
Gotta choose slip-on or chamber delete.

I've been reading this sort of stuff for years. Sadly, you can't just go changing manuf exhaust systems without having to do something else as well, to compensate for possible problems associated with messing with back pressure in the system, changes to exhaust pulses etc. Most Slip on manuf's claim increased hp which may well be the case, but thrown in a cat delete or airbox mod etc could negate this gain completely, and indeed make things worse. People also often interpret a nice change in noise as a power increase and don't 'notice' any other change.
Your best bet is a dyno/remap to see if you can sort it out. Best wishes.

Thanks guys for the input. I think I’ve read so many forums or Facebook groups and forgotten where I read what. Yes I am one of the many that wanted that extra growl and believed the websites! I also did read that doing a ECU remap would settle all these issues, but not sure if I’m willing to give that a go. Nonetheless, I took off the slip on (at 5am) and rode to work and es it did seem to be better with power again, but sadly just too damn loud!
I’ll be putting the chamber delete back in on Wednesday before I deafen my neighbours

The aftermarket exhaust tip is not free-flowing, it has a perforated insert to restrict flow and an end cap which can be left in place or removed to decrease back pressure. I’ve left the cap installed.

I also tested a cat delete pipe (Coober ‘18 version) with poor results so the cat went back in.

Airbox lid is stock, and I find the stock performance is adequate for my needs. Weight reduction and increased exhaust note for urban safety are my goals.

At least you are aware of whats going on. Many don't, and run the risk of damaging their motors, many beyond economic repair. The things run lean enough out of the factory as it is, so it's good you are thinking about the changes step by step. Best wishes. Stay safe. Geoff M. NZ.

Thanks mate 😄I’d rather not destroy my little beast just yet, I’ve only just started riding again. I’ve found the svart to have lovely power and that I’d be able to get used to but not get bored with, sad to say that slight drop in power made the ride much less exciting. Plus I felt like a boy racer with a 5” canon out the back of my Exel

I agree - the performance is certainly adequate and I don’t want to compromise that with a farty exhaust. I had plans to change the airbox too but now I won’t be!

Hey, you know it does all make sense.. change one thing and something else is going to suffer. I’ll be putting the chamber back in, and maybe experimenting with having a short pipe off that.. if that doesn’t work then back to having everything how it was. I can work on the aesthetics 😄

Decreasing the muffler size, like with a short turn down pipe will lose power too.

There are better ways to increase power to weight and improve performance.

You need to put at minimum a Fuelx Lite or if you can Ecu programmer like Powetronic V4 o COOBER, because maybe your engine need help to run you mods fin. I have all modifications done and notice better power and smoother engine feeling (Air Filters Stage 1 and 2, Fuelx Lite, Chamber delete, escape without DB Killer). I just ordered the ECU PROGRAMMER to run with my Fuelx Lite.

Yea, forgot to mention I also have a FuelX Lite to richen the mixture and smooth things out at lower RPMs.

It doesnt need to go that far to have a fun bike.
Better / lighter chain kit or lifepo battery for instance.

A rekluse clutch is also another way to make the bike way more awesome, just think... "automatic wheelies"

Did you delete the cat too, or did you leave it in place?

No I didn’t delete the cat, sorta glad I didn’t. It’s honestly too loud with the chamber out. Since this thread I’ve put it back in (which was a stuff around) and put the Leo slip on back on. I will look at getting the powertronic v4, and just supporting with the airbox upgrade and the slip on. I certainly don’t think performance is terrible, it’s just nice to chuck a few goodies on your ride 😊

I bought the parts to delete the chamber a long time ago, but have never gotten around to doing it, so your report is very interesting. I had hoped keeping the cat would have kept the sound levels down...

I rum the chamber delete with stock muffler. It’s fine. I guess it’s a bit louder? Frankly, I’m hard pressed to tell the difference. I can tell you that it definitely loses low-mid range torque, you do notice that more than the sound. Id have kept the chamber if it weren’t for the funny business that the PO did with it.

Interesting!
Now I’ve put everything back on I let it idle for 15 mins to reset and after the 2nd ride I’ve got those power bands back thank god. What’s the funny business ?!?!
