This looks to be it! The "gear washer" I referred to looks to be that wave-spring (22). Is this diagram from the full service manual? I'm just hesitant to undo the bolt further (to align things with that retaining ring (24)) in fear of loosening the other spring-loaded bits there. Nevertheless...

Obligatory noob post: I went to clean the front sprocket cover. My quick & unwise idea was to remove the bolt from this linkage arm to get the cover off. I did not realize it was spring-loaded with a gear washer (doesn’t seem to be shown in the manual). Once the washer popped loose I was unable...
