    A short history of Husqvarna

Good read! I knew some of their background, but learned a lot more.

    Off Road

Yeah, it's part of a limestone quarry I believe, so the mineral content makes it green like it's the Chicago River on St Patricks Day.

    Off Road

Out in Lockport IL today. Getting off the pavement sometimes gets you views seldom seen by others.

    Tire choices for Svartpilen

That's some nice weight savings! I weighed my rear Dunlop Mutant 150/60 17 at 11.4 lbs (same weight 3 times and the scale was calibrated with a 30.0 lb weight), which is equivalent to 5.17 kg. Not sure what my worn Pirelli weighs as it's still on the wheel and will probably get recycled at...

    Tire choices for Svartpilen

I bought mine online from Cycle Gear, and one of their shops near me will change them for $25 per tire including balancing (which I don't believe I could do). Cheap enough for me to drop them off and let them do it.

    Tire choices for Svartpilen

I'm still gradually wearing out my STRs. Mutants are in the garage. At this point of the year, I'll probably just swap them out during the winter.

2020+ Svartpilen and Vitpilen Seat Options

I typically ride nearly almost on the portion where the seat separates on the Svartpilen. So I just ordered the 1 piece 20/21 Vitpilen Ergo Comfort seat for my 2020 Svartpilen. It's on backorder and not expected until the end of September, though. But it looks good, and I'll see if that helps...

    Ride Pictures!

Just some areas around Yorkville and Sheridan IL yesterday. I love finding a backroad for wind therapy!

Riding a wheelie on the 401 vit.

I'm generally impressed by stunt riders and their skills when I see their videos in controlled settings. But anytime I've seen one in person on public streets, I just think the rider wants attention from teenage boys...😄 But then my own front wheel barely leaves the pavement, and I don't...

    Swingarm spools for the 401?

Thanks all for the feedback! Well, my solution ended up avoiding the spools altogether and buying a 1000lb rated swing arm lift from Harbor Freight for $36. After adjusting the little swing arm platforms, it does the job nicely and the bike is stable. Still in the wrapper in case it didn't...

    Swingarm spools for the 401?

Who has rear swingarm spools on their 401? I've searched, but it seems most don't fit with the OEM license plate bracket, and some have the wrong threads. Let me know what you're using that either worked right out of the box, or what you had to do to make it work. Pictures appreciated, thanks!

    Tire choices for Svartpilen

I would liken that to "preventative maintenance". In many cases, it makes sense to change out a few things "while you're at it" so that it's not an issue down the road. Like when changing the timing belt on some cars, it makes sense to do the water pump at the same time since the majority of...

    Tire choices for Svartpilen

That makes sense about the rim tape and tubes still possibly being in good shape, but having new ones available just in case. I haven't had any flats (knock on wood). My concern with the tubes is that they are going in tires that are a tubeless design (The Pirelli STR and my soon to arrive...

    Tire choices for Svartpilen

For my 401 Svart, I just ordered a set of Dunlop Mutant Crossovers in the OEM size 110/70 17 and 150/60 17. What kind of tubes should I order (standard is less weight vs heavy duty) and what sizes? Or has anyone confirmed if we can seal up the spokes and run without tubes?

    I think I'm in (g)love

I've got 2 pairs of summer gloves that are comfortable even when it's 90+, 1 pair for cool weather, and 1 battery powered heated pair for colder weather. Next to a helmet, gloves are probably the most essential.

    Husqvarna eBikes

I bought a couple of Jetson Bolt Pro e bikes from Costco for $300 each. They're fun for short rides around the neighborhood and bike paths. I'd be hard pressed to spend thousands on a bicycle though, e bike or not

    Close call

I just had mine serviced and checked the axle nuts. They were tight but the alignment nuts were loose. Thanks for the reminder to double check things!

    Time to Shoes

Those look sweet! I just received these yesterday, but haven't ridden with them yet. $80 on Amazon. Comes with neon laces that are a decent match for my 401 highlights, and also red laces. The leather is a bit shiny but has good protection for ankle and toes. The side zipper works well...

Gas leak around right hand side

If you're overfilling the tank, this can certainly happen. How far up the on that metal sight gauge are you going?
