    701 Brake Options

Being old skool, trail braking is my preferred technique. As I’m not a pro, for me it is much easier to manage with not so aggressive biting brakes. For some action just apply more rear brake and “steer with the rear”.

    Brake Fluid Change

As much as I know a “brake fluid tester“ measures the content of water in the old fluid. Therefore it tells you is a change of fluid required or not. For standard bleeding or fluid change a vacuum tool like you have is helpful. After extensive work on the brake system the ABS pump might run...

    open cage

I wonder why engineers designed the original cage like this. With the lid on, it creates a kind of a „pocket“ in the airbox. Your new design is intended for use without the lid - right? Sorry I missed that at the beginning.

    open cage

Look at the two curves. The increase is huge at low flow and decreases at higher flow. If the max flow rate would be the bottleneck, the opposite would be the case. Turbulence in the small airbox is probably responsible for the poor performance at low/mid rpm. How your new cage design will...

    Air Box Lid

Might be a bit old but still an excellent book to start with: http://www.bentleypublishers.com//automotive-reference/engineering-and-motorsports/scientific-design-exhaust-and-intake-systems.html

    Air Box Lid

The Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor gives just the signal to the ECU and the ECU does whats written in the mapping. Start with some basics and you will understand how challenging airbox mods are. Put the airbox on a flow bench and it will only tell you the half of the truth. When the airflow...

    Air Box Lid

The airbox volume should be at least 10x the size of the engine. For the pulses of the single cylinder even more. In theory for the 701 airbox 7000-10'000 ccm volume. Airbox resonance is an very important factor and I'm curious to hear about your calculations. Engeneers had to deal with a small...

    Air Box Lid

A good braked dyno has huge fans in front. Important to simulate some ram air effect on a superbike @ 300kph. I don‘t get your point why dyno results for our bikes shouldn’t be accurate enough?

    Air Box Lid

Some tuners even remove the snorkels completely. Why should they do that if the dyno tells different?

    Air Box Lid

The opposite must be the case. With an open airbox the main gain in performance is at lower/mid revs. It seems that the volume of the airbox itself is just to small for the bouncing waves of the big single cylinder engine. Opening the box gives a little additional volume.

42t Sprocket Weights for Vitpilen 701, Svartpilen 701, and Duke 690

Probably an economy OEM variant of the CZ ORH chain. They call it Active-Ring, announce it as X-Ring but it looks like an O-Ring.

    Rear tire size...

No, but some experience in classics. Adjusting each nipple on the left -1/4 turn and on the right +1/4 turn should do the job. Probably not all standard spoked wheels on the Pilens where centered well by the factory. (On classic bikes it was not uncommon to spoke the wheels offset to get more...

Or spoke both wheels a little offset to the right side🤓

    Mirror options for Svartpilen?

I have the same mirrors, but I added the Highsider Mirror Extensions 16-L and the visibility is excellent. What I noticed is the adjusting ball was sizing after washing the bike. A little WD40 solved it. I never noticed buzzing on my mirrors. I would check Highsider for the extensions and ask...

    Track Vits?

With race fuel and more ignition advance you could probably gain marginally more. These engines don’t have a knock sensor connected to the ECU. Going to the limits without could be a risky task…
