Buying a Svartpilen 401, New or Used

I really much preferred the appearance of the 2020+, and the more adjustable suspension. Besides many of the bolts heads changing from torx/hex to plain hex, what quality issues do you perceive on the newer model? The only thing I don't really prefer on the newer model is that the exhaust now...

    Tire choices for Svartpilen

So far I am happy with the stock Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires on my Svartpilen 401. Seem fine on the street to me and worked on the mild dirt roads I tried. But I'm not sure what to try next. What are you guys using when you change tires, and why? And how are they working for you?

    Chains - Rites and Wrongs

Is it possible that with the original chain you were over-tightening it? If it is too tight, it will stretch really fast. The best way to check this is with the shock removed and arcing the wheel to the tightest point. This is when the countershaft, swing-arm pivot and rear axle are all in line...

    Coolant overflow.

Since we are dealing with an unknown green coolant, it is a mystery. I lost some of the coolant and needed to top it up, so I just used a bit of distilled water. Personally, I wouldnt mix the pink and green. I'm just going to prioritize replacing it.

    Coolant overflow.

Oh, and one other interesting finding. The factory recommends Motorex M3.0 coolant... which is PINK. And the coolant in the bike is GREEN. So I guess they don't follow their own recommendation. I'll be replacing with engine ice next year regardless, to match my other bikes.

    Coolant overflow.

Yeah, so I checked this out in detail. The compensating tank is higher than the the radiator, and it is vented, so no pressure builds up there. Both my original and the replacement pretty radiator cap have return valves, but they do open at atmospheric pressure. Essentially: If the coolant hose...

    Coolant overflow.

Interesting. So ALL the fluid in the compensating tank drains out of the radiator cap opening. And if you put it back in the compensating tank, it just drains out again. So it isn't caused by pressure in the compensating tank. The hose runs higher than the tank and the radiator, so it must be...

    Coolant overflow.

That has never happened to me on any of my other vehicles...

    Coolant overflow.

Hmm...it's possible my new pretty radiator cap is faulty, and isn't letting the coolant back into the radiator.

    Coolant overflow.

I'm going to try this tomorrow... but it shouldnt actually be necessary, I thought. I also can't easily see how much coolant is in the tank until I pull the side panel.
