2020+ Svartpilen and Vitpilen Seat Options

The weight wasn't an issue, I just like the funky look of it. If I go out for lunch I'm more than 150g heavier on the ride home. :) I hadn't noticed the bolt holes. I might do check it out. I don't have the seat off much but my memory is that the front section sits into two cradles and the rear...

2020+ Svartpilen and Vitpilen Seat Options

The fit/no fit issue relates to model year. The 17-19 bikes fit each other, and the 20-21 bikes fit each other, but the 20-21 bikes have a slightly longer tail section. I liked the little rear rack that fits the early Svarts in place of the pillion seat but they don't make one for my 21 model.

    Powertronic ECU

Can you confirm something for me? It seems that the large diameter entry pipe on your delete is needed for the catalytic convertor to slide into. Is that correct? I went looking for an alternative chamber delete as that one is expensive here in Australia. I found half price alternatives that...

    Engine oil conundrum

The bike has to be upright to check the oil. Are you leaving it on the kickstand?

Riding a wheelie on the 401 vit.

About twenty years ago I had a Suzuki and used to ride with the NSW Katana Club. Most of them were resto projects ranging from original to way out. One weekend we were on a tour out of Sydney and a bike magazine was sending a photographer along to get some pics on the first day. We set off...

    Other Vehicles - More Wheels

This is a bike I had custom made back about 1972. It's got all the good stuff from back then, Reynolds tubing, TA chain rings, Stronglight cranks, Fiamme rims, ... I got it out of the shed a while back and polished it up a bit. This is what I mostly ride these day. Specialized Roubaix. Those...

    Recall - serious quality defect

The 401 is also a different design. It's mounted to the swing arm with two bolts of its own, not on the axle bolt. The 701 relies on the teeth meshing properly, which should not be a problem with a bit of basic care when installing it.

    Hello and Model year identification

The break in period is 600 miles, which the bike keeps track of. Until then the shift light should flash at 7,500. Once the 600 miles is reached you can set the light to wherever you want it. The limiter, however, is set in software but the max HP is 9,000 so there is nothing to be gained by...

Hum / buzz from front brake

Sometimes the noise can be coming from the back face of the brake pad, even if there is a shim to keep it quiet. Check out this kind of stuff. https://www.permatex.com/products/lubricants/specialty-lubricants-brakes/permatex-disc-brake-quiet/

Here's a video of a Duke 390 making the noise the OP might be hearing.

    S/V 401 clutch question

I took a few Ducati bikes out on a test ride day some years ago and loved that dry clutch sound. When you know about it, this video becomes much funnier. You can turn on English captions

    S/V 401 clutch question

It shouldn't be noisy. When you pull in the clutch lever the mechanism at the clutch itself operates through a thrust bearing that spins at clutch speed. If that bearing starts to wear it can get noisy. Sometimes the bearing is a flat ball or cylinder race, sometimes in small motors it's just...

    Fashion faux pas? My shoes?

And probably another motorcycle as well. There are some things that need to sit with a mate - neither shoes nor bikes like being left alone. :)

    Leo Vince LV-10 leak

If it needs a bit of movement, try bolting the muffler up tightly to the header before you tighten up the mounting bolt near the footpeg. Also, try a rubber washer in the muffler mount so the header/muffler joint is stable but the muffler itself has a bit of shake if it needs it.

    Close call

I've done my own maintenance forever but when I retired a few years ago I figured I was old enough to have somebody else do it. I've never had a serious problem with the two dealers that my bikes have come from and only one issue. I once picked the bike up after a routine service and noticed...

Some of the tail tidies that you can buy online advertise that they include a wheel mount block to replace the rear catcher mount when it's like this.
