I'm thinking of getting one of these, and I see they come in clear or tinted.
I'm tending towarded tinted. What do you think and why?

I got the clear but kind of wished I got the tinted for looks wise.

I got the clear for because I always use Tinted visor on the helmet, so I have a habit of getting clear windscreen on all my motorcycle for safety reason as I don't want it to limit my visibility any futher.

I prefer the tinted screen, I think it goes well with the dark look of the bike. I‘ve also heard some people complain that the display can be hard to see in bright daylight (although i haven’t found that to be the case for me), maybe the tinted screen might help shield it from sunlight.

If it were me I'd go tinted. It blends with the bike better and as MDsvart401 pointed out it may provide some shielding from glare. I think visibility would be a valid concern if the screen were a bit taller, but it doesn't appear to be tall enough that you'd be looking through it in an appreciable way unless you're pretty tucked. From the look of it it only comes a few inches over the display.

Sisco, how effective is this as a windscreen? Naked is fine for city riding and the occasional highway blast, but for extended trips I imagine I'll want to have something that lessens the human parachute effect I feel on the highway.

Another thing to note is that this also increase the display height by about 35-40mm.

It's very effective when you're in a tucked in racing position, before the windscreen I can feel the force of the wind on my helmet pressing against my face and that is now gone with the windscreen.

I have the clear version on my SP401. The tinted version wasn't available at the time. I kinda wish it was as I'd have gone for that one. On the Svart I've never leaned forward enough to actually look through it, you'd have to be lying on the fuel tank almost! Still, I do like the looks of it on my bike, even if it gives only very slight airflow changes.

I like my Puig. I got the dark smoke one.

In the rain, through chilly sections, or in clouds of bugs it's worth its weight. (Not that its heavy or something, it actually does what it's supposed to)

First person who saw my bike after I installed it said "you ruined it!" , so there that...

Yeah, it's the "you ruined it!" part that bugs me a little bit.....
BUT, I'm mostly an older bikes guy (1960's-80's stuff), and I bought my SP401 as a fun 'errands' bike, and so adding practical upgrades to it (even if a little ugly) doesn't kill it for me......
Glad to hear the Puig works as advertised. It's been chilly, with a little rain and fog here in upstate NY, so I'm sure it will extend my riding comfort a bit further into the fall /early winter season, which was the goal with the windscreen. Come to think of it, I've never had a windscreen on a bike before!

The last "naked" bike I bought with a windshield was a late 70's Suzuki, removed it first thing.

I guess on the little svartpilen it makes such a difference because there isn't a big fat 4 cylinder keeping everything toasty.

One thing I will add, when the helmet is in certain abbynormal positions there is buffeting.

Ha! Yeah, definitely nothing there in comparasion on the SP...I'll be heading out later today (blustery and warm) and will see how it does!

There is a nice Puig for sale on this sites marketplace!
Too tall for me personally, but someone should jump on it. ;-)

That's a good deal. Someone should definitely pick it up. Rode with mine for the first time yesterday and it made a big difference. Found myself riding quite a bit faster without even noticing at first. It just didn't feel like I was going that fast. I still think it's a little bit ugly, but it's a win in my book, and I imagine it does more in terms of wind dampening than the Husky 'flyscreen'.....

Ha! That's cool. As you pointed out, there's still some buffeting in certain positions on the helmet, but what a difference overall. I think adding a flat seat and this windscreen have been the most significant improvements to how the bike feels to me.

I bought the puig dark smoke, I actually think the dark looks better now. Puig is a much bigger screen as well.
