I had been looking at used 2019 and earlier exhausts on eBay, and the sellers want a lot of money for junkyard parts.
So I looked at AliExpress.com and saw some really strange stuff.

I couldn't resist and I so ordered this from Guangzhou City, Guangdong, China :

It was a risky order and who knows what I will really get? The product was not well described.
It appears to include:
- a header pipe, maybe colored stainless steel or maybe actual titanium?
- a cat: maybe colored stainless with a cat inside? I wonder if there is really a catalytic converter inside there? Could it actually be Ti?
- a mid pipe with a bulge (another cat? or a mid-muffler?), looks like stainless steel, and strangely it seems like it would eliminate the cat above.
- the end pipe, looks like stainless steel, where the muffler is attached.

I can't wait to see what I get... kind of a mystery box.

I can't wait so see what I get... I don't think it has actually shipped yet.
People have said really nice things about the RTAMO exhaust... but it's unclear who is the manufacturer of these pieces (I don't think it is RTAMO).

if it's not crzazy expensive, it's worth a shot. yo can always add a cheap DB-killer.
a friend of mine also triend one of those cheap full systems for his yamaha MT 09.
looked good but he didn't ride it long because of the exess noise. but any straight thrue system will be loud, no matter what brand ;-)
 
hannesd, I ordered the version as show in the picture with the "catalytic converter" bulges. I'm hoping there is something in there that dampens the sound, but I suspect it might not be a real cat!

It's obviously a big gamble. I'm really curious what I will get...
 
i actually have this kind of 'catalic convertor' to put between the silencer and the last piece if the exhaust . it makes it a bit less loud.
i have the full original exhaust exept ,i replaced the stock silencer with a (chinise) short one with a big opening like Leovince, and with a 'catalic convertor' mounted inside.
sounds just great, performance-wise, i don't care if its less or not :-) just glad i'm not riding a moped or a vacuum cleaner anymore now :cool:
 
hannesd, do you have some pictures of that insert and your muffler?
I haven't chosen a muffler yet... but I do intend to run an insert of dB killer.

i bought 2 versions, this one and the other one wich looks like the catalic convertor. the one in the pic is even more quite then the other one. both provide quite a lower sound.
full throttle offcourse, it's still well heard. just normal riding is ok.
 
I just received a DHL report that the package has shipped from China...
I wonder if they are made on demand or what else delayed the shipment? At any rate, it will be very interesting to see what I receive.

The dent shown in the pipe on the bottom left is also on the stock exhaust to clear a frame rail.

In general the welds look OK to me!
 
The is the inside of the Titanium 'Cat" pipe.

Nothing in there! Looks like there are two small holes into the outer chamber. The holes are about 10mm. I cannot believe they do much at all, except maybe some resonator sound change.

And this is the inside of the chamber in the down pipe. I snaked my endoscope down there. Looks like some kind of muffler.

Interestingly, when I unpacked the down pipe a bunch of dark colored sand came out. And more comes out as I shake it. The packing on the "muffler" must have this in it?
