Chamber Delete from Competition Werkes for 2020, 2021 401

I spoke to them and they said the new bikes have two cats, and you can leave them both in with this. I'm expecting the sound not to change much (I like the bike quiet), and say claim no jetting changes are needed either.

Completed the Competition Werkes (CW) Chamber Delete on my Svartpilen 401 this past weekend.

It is a moderate level modification as you need to remove the entire exhaust system (header, muffler chamber and canister) as well as the skid plates which Husky calls a spoiler.

NOTE: I have the Akrapovic slip-on exhaust mod. It looks great, sounds ok but I wanted more sound.

I’m not a mechanic by any means, but have completed many moderate level modifications on motorcycles and Jeeps.

The instructions are minimal from CW, but as expected for an aftermarket purchase. Also, this is a newer part so no YouTube videos to use either. So, as a novice mechanic I supplemented information with the Husky Svartpilen 401 user manual. Also, that way, you have the torque settings after reassembly.

(The tarp is on top of blankets. Heated garage, but still a frozen floor in MN)

The most challenging part was the final step to remove the actual muffler chamber. The bolt “tube” was flush with the frame mounts so I had to slightly bend the frame mount, pop the muffler chamber with a hammer and…

Say NO to muff chambers

The installed CW Chamber Delete

When reassembling, make sure to keep the entire exhaust system “loose” until you get the exhaust system and the skid plates reassembled…then tighten everything. I had to readjust as the header pipe as it was fighting with the skid plates.

Here is a short clip: Competition Werkes Muffler Chamber Delete
NOTE: The smoke is the WD-40 ”seasoning“ the new CW pipe

UPDATE: I have since updated the exhaust to a Coffman‘s Exhaust Shorty. Posting is on the forum. I could NOT be happier!

Wow, that is a great writeup! It will be a real help when I install mine.
I think it sounds a bit "raspier" than stock in your video?:

Edit: I I just realized this sound clip is with the Akrapovic slip on! Very cool. I wonder how it will sound with a stock muffler.
Any chance you weighed any of the parts?

Hmm, important finding:
The chamber delete will NOT work with the stock muffler! with 2019- mufflers.
The stock muffler is a slip fit with a regular clamp. The resonator exit is a 51mm pipe.
The chamber delete exit is a 46mm pipe.
So, NO GO, if you want to use the stock muffler. A stock sleeve gasket is necessary to match the pipe sizes.

Wait, what? That comp werkes thing should be 1 to 1 replacement. (See last sentence below)

I didn't take pictures of mine while it was off, but note the difference between competition works mufflers for the 2019 and 2020:

2019:

2020:
2020.jpg

The 2019- uses a flanged end, and the 2020+ is a straight slipon (with slots in the tube on the stock muffler) and a regular clamp.
So Competition Werks knows they are different...

More research shows some of my statements above were wrong (I'll edit those).
The 2020+ is substantially different, and that is what has confused me.
There are no flanges on the 2020+ muffler / resonator connection like there are on the earlier 2019-.

2020+ Muffler pipe:

2020+ resonator box:

Above, I now notice that there is a "sleeve gasket" over the stock 46mm resonator box pipe. The ouside diameter of the sleeve gasket is approx 51mm.

"2020" chamber delete pipe is way too small for 2020 muffler pipe, without the sleeve gasket. A sleeve gasket is necessary.

So the chamber delete requires this 2020+ gasket. I think is is part number 94305050071. I haven't checked, but but new (and different) gasket may also be needed on the other side of the resonator.

However, 2019 style mufflers and end pipes will not fit the chamber delete nor the stock resonator without some modification.

You need a 2019 resonator/link for the 2019 slip on.

For your 2020 pipe, There Is one gasket on each side.

If you are careful they come off easily, just gotta be patient.

I think that would be very hard, it's a thin long sleeve, not a thicker ring like the earlier bikes.
For now, I won't mess with it, I'm going to wait and see the parts I ordered from Aliexpress first....

did you ever install this with the stock muffler? If you did, was there any sound diff at all or just for looks? Like you, I kinda like it quiet, but wouldn't mind a bit of tone difference.
