801 side-pannier-rack

I did it with a vice and some tools at the workbench, but without heat.
On the pics the bracket is made from 3mm aluminum; it works fine with the lightweight rain gear in the pannier, but for some a tad heavier stuff I would use 4-5mm aluminum instead.
Thanks Tom, I knew it didnt look like 5mm! I have some 5mm, dont think it'll bend as neat as that. I'll get a piece of 4mm and compromise!!

5mm will also work fine.
Here some pics of a TomTom mount that I also fabricated from 5mm aluminum; the angle is also 90°; and I've bent it also without heat.

Some pics of how a small and simple 401 pannier rack can be adapted (with a custom made bracket and some custom made spacers) to the 801 to attach a small pannier; it's again still work in progress...

Love the mods. May I ask, the plastic button grommets you removed which were originally located under the bolts and brackets you installed, are they replaceable should you wish to remove the brackets and cover the holes?

Thanks! Because of the grommets: don't try to pull them out! screw them out instead like a screw! First it was a bit fiddly, but finally it worked fine; it took me less than a minute to get each out; and the grommets were still in perfect shape to plug them in again.

Hi Stephen! sorry, but I don't fabricate any parts to sell them; and it also definitely makes no sense to cut, bore and bent a sheet of 5mm aluminum or steel here in Europe to send it over the pond. But I will send you the simple drawing to fabricate the bracket; and I'm sure you can find someone locally who can make it for you; it's not rocket science ;)

Here the links to the 401 pannier-rack and the bag that I ordered.

Hey,
still thinking about copying this thing for my raingear😅 could you send me those drawings as well? Never fabricated with metal before, but maybe I just look for a workshop doing it for me(y)

@Tom For the bought bracket you used the included hardware, and just countered them, right?
I saw the original bracket uses M8/35, but what did you take?

Yes, right.

If I remember correctly, I used M8x30; but it depends on the length of the spacers.
