Handlebar Position

Handlebar Risers for a better position for me a (5', 6" tall) rider was a big help. I used the Roxspeed 1.75" Riser kit and it fit perfectly. I have more pics, if you're interested.

The Roxspeed 1.75" riser helps to move the handlebars back (only a little) towards the driver and makes for a more upright riding position. I've also found it easier to stand on the pegs when riding off-road or on a loose surface for better handling. More upright riding position might require a windscreen of some sort. Maybe my next modification in the spring.

Adding Risers instead of replacing the handlebars are so much easier. 4 bolts and small adjustments to brake/clutch angle and your done. Risers are very common and proven to be safe, if applied properly. I should know. I purchased the wrong size and the bars moved when braking hard. Once I switched to the correct size there's no problem.
Let me know if you find a handlebar that fits this bike. I'm curious.

Are they not standard 7/8” size? I have no issues with the standard handlebars but I have contemplated on swapping them for some higher bars just to try it and since it looks cool.

hello to everyone.
i have a 22 svartpilen. i decided to change mirrors to bar end (not hqv but from oxford) they have m8 central screw
so after receiving them i figured out the bar end weight inserts are glued hard inside the bar. i tried getting them out but i had no luck, so i decided to get a different handlebar preferably one without crossbar (i don't know how much of a difference will be between stock handlebar and say pro taper evo in term of handling and comfort)
anyways, then i figured out that the factory handlebar isn't 1 1/8 inch but 1 inch instead. so seems like i also need to change the clamps to a proper one which is just annoying. husqvarna has made some questionable decisions about this bike which makes it nightmare to customize.
anyone has any recommendations for me? what bend to go for or what clamp to get?! i would be happy to hear your expriences.

I have not changed the bars on mine for some of the reasons above.
Mainly, not many 1inch bars available, aleast not nice ones that fit or are wider than the stock bars. Also the grip section on the throttle side needs something like 235mm of straight bar to fit the twist grip and front brake. No Renthal bars had enough room for these on the throttle side or any other decent bar manufacturers. If you add this both sides plus some rise and enough room for the centre clamps you would need 840mm bars from most companies. I have seen people have fitted different clamps and 7/8 bars or even 1-1/8 but this would be an expensive mod using quality parts. I do not know how others have got round the bar being to short for the twistgrip, maybe using a bar end weight in 22mm to extend? I think people find parts on Temu or Amazon or somewhere. I would not buy bars etc. from such places so decided to leave my bars stock.

Hi Jester
Thanks for the useful information you provided.
You’re totally right about the controls area. Most bars are 180mm and based on my measurements you need at least 220mm. (By the way what’s that gap between throttle module and the right mirrors? There is some plastic part between them)
So a simple change of mirrors has become a heavy project)
I think either I should take professional help in getting out the inserts (which may have some effect on the handling) or forget about oxfords and go for Highsider Montana Evo mirrors. This company also has some 1inch handlebar options worth checking out.

I have fitted bar end mirrors using the original bars, I used the bolt that holds on the end weights. I could not get the insert out of the bars either, mine is glued in. My mirrors were just meant to be to try out bar end mirrors having never had them before. I bought a cheap set from eBay for £7 for the pair. They are still on my bike and have done 4000 miles without ever coming undone. Mine are fitted under the bars so I have to look down a little to see in them. I tried them above and turned in but kept hitting them with my gloves. This felt horrible so I left them in the down position, visibility is not great but they are better than no mirrors.
I think round mirrors in the up position, preferably if the mount allows slightly outward would work best if you want to see anything other than your arms. The new Oxford circle 360 mirrors have a multi adjustable arm and would work great if they fit using the original husky bolt in the original bar insert. For £70each I would not personally want to buy them to find out unless you can easily get a refund if they do not fit..

Sorry should have added I am a bit of a tinkerer, this may not be as simple as I might have made it si got the

I got the Street model from oxford. I liked the overall profile and their smaller size. I got no luck in returning them because the box is ruined in the customs. So you say you couldn’t get the inserts out as well. This is just frustrating that husqvarna does this. They were different and normal before 2020.
Combining your experience with mine, i think i better get the monatana evo’s and somehow sell these oxford ones on ebay or sth.
I also ruined the paint job on my handlebar when trying ro remove left grip. I thought there was some sort of clip or sth under it :|
By the way, are you satisfied with the tail tidy? Is dirt a concern?

Regards tail tidy….dirt is not a concern no, I ride only in the sunshine, my bike is purely for pleasure, if the weather is forecast for rain it stays in the garage. Also I did not ride with the swingarm mounted original in the rain so could not say if R&G tail tidy is worse or better than stock, looks better though IMO.

Originally as you are aware the Vitpilen had more of a clip on handle bar which wasnt my cup of tea nor the cast wheels, it is now fitted with high bar Svartpilen conversion and Svartpilen wheels/tires, great jobby

Interesting. US Vits had the spoked wheels which I agree are cooler than cast.

Well I finally decided to go with the Svart handlebar kit on my Vit (like Colly used). Should be here by next weekend. I just feel I'd ride it more if it was a bit more comfortable.
