Hello! My turn signals are blinking erratically when the engine is on. Before, it was only with the engine on + brake active. It's gotten more frequent and now it's all the time when the engine is on.

The problem is the same as shown here:

Unfortunely, changing the relay to a new OEM-relay didn't help. I also cleaned the plugs with multispray.

I'll attach a photo of a rusty part that's sitting on the left side of the frame, which I haven't identified. Could that be a problem?

Any ideas?IMG_9147.jpeg

I know there are two different ECU setting for the 801, one for LED and one for regular lamps. Perhaps it’s the same for the 401? Kinda looks like your ECU has reset to regular lights.

I would find out what that rusty part is as NO manufacturer would make a bare metal external part that rusts and has sharp edges.

Did you check the ECU settings? These are sold with regular indicators on some markets.

Nope, it's only when the engine is running.
Then I would put a multimeter across the battery and check the DC Voltage and then switch the voltmeter to AC Voltage and see how many millivolts of AC there is. Should be less than 50 millivolts (mV). There might be noise coming from the charging system like a bad diode.

Thanks for the suggestion. I measured 26 mV with the engine turned off, and a stable 30 with or without revving with the engine turned on. Is that ok, concerning the regulator?
I also checked the battery ground against the frame and engine, both ok.

The 26mV AC is good so I doubt the charging system is interfering with the turn signals. Not much left when the engine is on other than ignition noise. Not sure how you would find that other than maybe with a oscilloscope.

"Before, it was only with the engine on + brake active" I suppose the ABS pump or some of the electronics might have noise, not sure is a fuse or something could be pulled to isolate that out.

Good luck

FWIW. My car just started doing that and I suspect it's because I have a burned out or soon to be burned out bulb and it's a warning sign by design. It only does it when I signal left, normal signaling right.

Your bulbs are now 5 years old.

I didn't know they gave pre warning of imminent failure....HAL computers do that so be careful. ;)
