I have been looking around for the stock tires and am struggling to find the correct size for the rear tires perelli scorpion 150/60 x R17 anybody else struggle to find that specific size?

On a different note how often for those who daily drive their bikes how often are you having to change tires?

replacing tires is a nightmare. I damaged my rear tire at about 5000 miles and ended up putting a shinko 805 big block adv tire that was 180/130/17 and it fit and is just a hair off from the original size. I am now at 10000 miles on the bike and my front is bald, I hate it, but the best option I have been able to find to replace the front is a shinko 705 which is a 70street/30dirt dual sport tire thats 120/70/17 (as opposed to 110/70/17 factory) They also make the 705 in 180/130/17 so I will probably end up getting the set even though I really am not pleased about it.... The knobby offroad looking tires are my favorite thing about the bike. Its what gives it its entre identity and character. Only to discover replacing them once they wear out is impossible, its maddening!

Look up the Tacoma World tire size calculator comparison tool. I found it to be an invaluable resource when tire shopping.

If you search over on the svartpilen 401 reddit page (my redit name is tomahawktaxidermy) I made a post where you can see pics of that back tire right after I mounted it. Sorry for being too lazy to look up these links, I got way too much work to do today.

I'm guessing you aren't talking about a svartpillen 401 in your reply since you've mentioned sizes that aren't stock for the 401.

Just to clarify a 180/130/17 is not an actual size. Must be typo, the E805 comes in a 150/70/17 which is close enough to the stock size.

I just got a new rear tire on my Vit after 3800 miles.

The dealer had nothing for it in stock, they had to order it which took a week. It's funny because although they've only recently become a Husqvarna dealer, they've been a KTM dealer forever and should've had tires for Duke 390s. They also sell Kawasaki and the MT-03 which uses the same size tires.

I replaced the stock Metzeler Sportec M5 with an M7. There is a huge difference in ride and handling. There's also a M9 which I will get next time.

He must mean 130/80/17, which is much less eyebrow raising.

I am talking about a svart 401… believe it or not the sky will not fall if one deviates from stock specs a bit.

Check this out

It’s a difference of 1.1 inches in diameter and .79 inches in width
If you want to justify to yourself that it's only off by a "hair" then sure. The overall dynamics of the tire have been changed by a few percent and will make the bike handle differently. If this didn't matter for getting the best performance out of a sportbike then the stock rear tire would have come with the adventure rear tire size. It didn't because there is a difference with handling from 130/80/17 vs 150/60/17 just like there is a clear difference from the 390 duke to the 390 adventure.

Even increasing the rear tire by a mere 10mm width from 150 to 160 will change the bikes performance. That change is even less than your "hair" percentage.
