Hi all,

I live in a place where my bike gets knocked over a lot and is street parked. Recently it was knocked over and impacted the ground on the kickstand side. I had to replace the kickstand and used this as an excuse to do some overall chain maintenance. When I went to ride it home from the place it was knocked over, at one point as I shifted into 3rd gear I realized it was not shifting down, so I rode the rest of the way home in 3rd. After getting it on the rear stand and replacing the kickstand, I was playing with the shifter. I got it up to 6th, and could shift down to 5th and back up to 6th again, but it would not shift below 5th. It could only go between 5th and 6th. I took the little bar that connects the shift pedal off (not sure what its called) and reattached it, thinking maybe that contact with the ground had knocked the shift pedal into a position where it doesn't have range to shift down. It was in a weird position but correcting it didn't fix the issue.

I had it in the stand and was cleaning the chain with PB Blaster, and figured I would deal with the clutch issue later. As I'm, doing this, I spun the rear wheel with some force. I heard some short of 'clonk' sound from inside the bike, and after testing the shifter again now had full range. I could shift all the way down to first and up again, so the problem seemed fixed. Anyone have any idea what the issue could've been, and is this something to worry about?

I don't know but I'm sure glad I don't live where that happens, lol.
