Vitpilen 701 - Starter fail, quickshifter gone, no power over 5k...

Hi there,
To the point: my starter motor died again, brushes get stuck from dust [btw where i can get brushes for vitpilen 701 starter motor? mine are almost gone, and i can't find replacement for brushes anywhere], repaired, cleaned, installed, starter spinning, engine is not turning, okey, traced issue to starter clutch, was wear alot, replaced, everything put back together, bike start just fine, but now quickshifter is gone, any idea what may be the culprit? Also from some time i had some issues with loosing power at high rpm, but after service [spark plugs, oil etc] bike won't have power over 5k rpm at all, just screaming like crazy.

Should i look for garage with ability to reflash that damn ecu? or there is something that i can check myself?

The regular dealer. Should be able to check for stored fault codes and see if the ecu is okay. Don't think you need a reflash. I remember someone else saying they took it to dealer to fix a non working quick shifter.

My quick shifter didn’t work even though it was clicked enabled in the software, the dealer had to run some calibrations on the sensor to get it working correctly.

That’s weird that you don’t have power over 5k rpm’s and say it’s screaming, sounds like a slipping clutch.

Sounds like a slipping clutch indeed. First thing to check is the clutch master cylinder. The plungers are prone to get stuck after a few years on this model (HC-1). I have replaced the plunger and seals already twice on my Vit (every two years). A buddy of mine with an SDR1290 had the exact same problem.

So does the plunger come all the way back?

Did you find the solution? I'm having the same problem. After 5000 rpm bike don't move, just rev up. Problem started after 5400 miles.

Left it yesterday, but unfortunately, it will take a week to make the diagnostic due to the new year. I was looking for something that could be done at home.
