Having discovered the pillion seat is so snugly fitted, I can't even use my Kriega tail pack straps (!) can anyone recommend a tank bag for the Svartpilen 701 please?

Hi - I have used a Givi XS 307 15 litre tank bag, which is in their Tanklock range, on my Vitpilen. As a result it needs a fixing flange to screw on round the tank filler. Givi don't list a flange for the Vitpilen but the BF02K ring ( which is actually a Kappa item but they are compatible) fits the Vit fine. I imagine that tank and filler on the Svart are the same as Vit but you need to check that. Hope this helps.

No problem. Incidentally I also had a Kriega tailpack and managed after much wiggling to get the straps to come out under the pillion seat so it could be used. Good luck with it!

Ha! Well done! That's what I tried for ages. Literally about an hour. I managed to get two straps (one each side) at the end of the pillion pad nearest the riders seat, but trying to get a pair of straps to protrude at the rear end was nigh on impossible, so I gave up after about an hour of frustration. Glad to know you have had success with that though! Did you mount all four of the Kriega straps to the silver metal subframe which makes a sort of cross shape, under the pillion pad? The problem I was having was sliding the pillion pad back in to position; it is so darn snug under there!

I never had issues with the kriega straps under the pillion seat.
I use the straps with clips on both ends, maybe that makes a difference 🤷🏽‍♂️

I just take of the pillion seat, put the two straps where I want them over the subframe, and slide the pillion seat back into place.

Yes I put the front strap under the cross shape subframe but the rear just under the seat and slid the seat back in. With clips on both ends as did Nampus, Have fun with it!

I've got the Givi ST611B on the Svartpilen with the tank lock, pretty small though.

I wonder if the difference might be the sideplate plastics that go around the rear subframe on the Svart. I've taken that off on mine, and there's probably more room for routing straps under the sides of the passenger seat now. Never tried myself, but it just struck me as a possible reason why NickC managed to mount it on his Vit while you struggle on the Svart :)

The 'flat track' number board certainly does get in the way! The other issue, I think is it sounds like NickC is using the two female ended strap which comes with the smaller Kriegas. Mine is a 30 litre and has to use 4 sub frame loops which protrude from under the seat and then you use a second strap to hook in to the loops. There just doesn't seem to be enough space for four sub frame loops. I got two on at the front and managed to get two to extend out at the back, but because they are fixed at the same point as the front ones, the back of the Kriega bag flaps up and down. I need a fixing point further back. My friend has suggested a pair of eye bolts to replace two fasteners at the back by the rear light and see if I can get the straps out of the back by the light. I might give that a go and will report back!

Here's mine. I think it's an xs308. Givi tanklock anyway. I just made an adaptor to hold the tanklock ring onto the tank flange.

Looks ideal. Thanks for sharing that. An aside, I noticed you have hand guards. Do they have any noticeable affect on high speed handling? Any chance you could post a frontal pic of your bike with them on?

Here you go.... i don't imagine you'd notice any real difference in the handling dept except, you may be able to hang onto it a bit better because you're hands are not freezing 🤣
